New to Forum-06/2024

Post by ChrisRush »

 Hi all, I`ve been into RC Tanks/Tracked AFV`s, on and off for about 15 years (yes I`m classed as a `senior` ) but I still can`t get over not having something to fiddle/upgrade/remodel etc. I`m a, now, retired automotive engineer so it must be `in-the-blood` no matter how small it is!
Currently trying to finish-off my latest project, the full metal chassis version of a HL Merkava MK4 with added TROPHY Dection system (IDF retro-fit version) and a DROID Sensor unit........great fun!

Welcome from Ontario, Canada!
Love to see the Merkava. Please tell me you didn't design a check engine light into it?!

Mike.

NO...........but the air-bags all seem to work ok! Once I get some info on how to get the barrel smoker working (last job) I`ll stick some pics up! Its all built, weathered and good to go/show (`cept the b***dy cannon smoke) so we`ll see?

Chris seems to have cottoned to our humour already.
If I may ask? Is the cannon smoke an after market one, or was it in the model when purchased? If it was an aftermarket one, have you made a little jumper plug for CN6?

The tank came directly from HL with just a BB/recoil unit in the turret, which I did not want. HL, bless em, and at my request, sent me the metal servo barrel recoil and elevation units to delete the BB function. I then removed all the HL 7.1 system to fit the CS-TK16 mainboard, the dedicated TK16 slip-ring unit with turret daughter-pcb as I want to use my FlySky i6 10ch TX/RX. It DID come with a working exhaust smoking unit connected directly to the HL 7.1 MB. This was reconnected to the TK16 MB via the CS-MY30 control pcb and works perfectly including on/off from the TX. Tried the same idea with the cannon smoker but nothing? (the oil-heater unit does work ok and switches on/off from the TX) But, no matter what I try I can not get the blower/fan unit to trigger a puff of smoke as it does not seem to make the 6v required to fire it from the control pcb?? Completely at a loss just now!

Rant over, just VERY frustrated at the mo`

Cheers bud, thanks for looking.

Know anyone on this forum who you think can help? I`m faily sure its something simple, but like you, my `electronics` and with little knowledge/info out there for the TK-16 mainboard the last bit of my tank build seems to have stalled.....for now anyway!

Try posting in the electronics section, you may get a better response.
