Civilisation comes to the USA.

Post by jarndice »

You lucky people,
Today is the start of the World T20 Cricket Championship and it is being held in the West Indies and the United States, At last you will get the chance to see how gentlemen and women play games, :thumbup:
The Ball should you ask is made of Cork wrapped in Leather and it breaks bones if it hits you in the wrong place :lolno:
I played for the Army and managed to get 6 stitches in the face for my efforts with the bat :{
Trust me after this your child like adventures with what we call rounders and you call Baseball will cease and you will at last embrace true sportsmanship. :haha:
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

I think you will find they already do play it. I have to admit in a very small way. Where I live in the states I know of two "pitches" and I seen games in progress on occasions. It will not be long before they, like the rest of the world will be beating us Brits. Can you imagine in a few years the England v USA test match, with the USA winning and taking home the Boston Tea Chest trophy.......

Years ago playing co-ed softball we had a gal on the team from England, First time up to bat she struck out never swinging. She later stated she was waiting for the pitch to bounce first. She did come around to the weird rules and was quite a good player.

Waiting for it to bounce first? Did she think she was playing table tennis :think:

Even though I'm British (mix of all three), I must admit, when it comes to cricket, I have to admire the Indians passion for the game the most. It's the way they light up when cricket enters the conversations I've had, much more than anyone else.

I understood (from her) that the pitcher's throw was to bounce before the batter, and they used a flat paddle for a bat. Am I just being a Yank and have the wrong game?

No, she was thinking of cricket, the ball has to bounce once before the batting line :thumbup:

Bowler, The Bat is only flat on one side but you certainly have the right game.

You'll need a nine iron to get that out :thumbup:

Which is from a totally different bat and ball game :think:
