Taigen V3 MFU to TK7.1 plug questions

Post by MrChef »

Ok so I'm researching. I plan to gut a perfectly good Taigen and swap in a TK7.1. I have looked and traced alot the wires. Several look to be plug and play. This will Not be on this tank shown but on an IR equipped Tank with servo recoil/flash.

Stuff I can identify as plug and play would be the battery, turret rotation motor, motors/gearboxes, on/off switch, speaker, smoker heater and fan.

From the turret slip ring Splitting up the turret elevation, cannon firing and servo recoil, flash, IR emitter is where I need guidance for the need to change plugs etc. I can solder and I'm into testing things out for what plugs and wires will work what.

What type or or name of plugs will I be needing? Any suggestions where to get the plugs and wires?

OR should I just get a slip ring kit like this for a Heng Long and cut and splice to fit?

Thank you all very much for your help.

Your winter build had the 7.0 version, I would think that it would be close on motors, sound, smoke, lights, turret turn and elevation... Above and below slip ring should use the same connections and wire colors (I'm guessing). I've got several connectors mostly pre 7.0 if we can figure out what you need I'll send you what I have. The Taigen connectors that are attached on the current set up can be reused. Although it is not as easy on these micro connectors, they can be de-pinned and another inserted or as you said wires could be spliced...

Thank you Eric that sounds like a plan. I do have leftover plugs and wires that I've saved, but likely not enough.

Am I correct in calling the white 2 and 3 pin plugs "JST" connectors? And or mico JST connectors? What about the black plugs used for the LED's? What are they called? And I'm guessing there are servo plugs as well?

Again this would be swapping a faulty Taigen V3 MFU for a new TK7.1 to control the tank, IR, the Taigen servo cannon recoil and flash.

Thank you very much for your help and offer.

I think that is correct too but one of the experts should be along with better information.

Then, Mr. Chef, if you do not plan to use that Taigen MFU and sound module, I will take it. (I do like the Taigen sound choices. I do like the HengLong 6.0 to 7.1 MFUs. Oh would someone please put those qualities together. :problem: or find a way to make the Taigen sound choices work with the HengLong MFUs !!! )

If this project moves past the planning stages and it gets into my hands it's all yours. BUT you must know that there are potential issues with the Tiagen MFU and that's why it would become a new project I'm considering at a steep discount. Regardless I'd send it your way.

It's the sound module that I can use the most. Send PM if/when you are ready and I can cover postage.

Be very careful when changing from Taigen board to Heng long TK 6.0/6.1/7.0/7.1 everything on the heng long boards is on its own circuit so the only things that are plug and play are the speaker and turret rotation motor. Everything else is different the motors/gearboxes have bullet connectors on them not JST plugs so will need to be changed. The on/off switch is on its own and doesn't have the battery connected to it, the battery connects directly to the board if the tank you use has the charging circuit for it in the tank you will no longer be able to use it.

This is for the 6.1 but mostly the same as 7.1 the 7.1 no longer has CN2
