My small son showed me an image today of a Martian hover tank, LOL
I was wondering if the veterans here have ever done something like this or seen a custom sci-fi RC tank (think Halo, Warhammer 40K, etc ....)?
Anyone ever try to do a sci-fi RC tank?

I’ve seen Horus Heresy era Baneblades motorized; while they aren’t strictly speaking tanks I’ve also seen some very well done Jawa Sandcrawlers. I have hear tell of Machinen Krieger models converted to RC; sadly have never seen any.
When I first looked into this hobby years ago, there was a group in the US attempting to do post-apocalyptic racing (technically SF) inspired by Mad Max and Fallout, but I’ve never been able to find them since, which is a shame as that’d be a hell of a lot of fun.

You will find plenty of motorized Warhammer tanks on youtube. Mostly servo-driven to fit inside the small-scale bodies.
One guy even made a Land Raider with a miniature flamethrower, among many other projects.

Quite often, particularly in older Sci-fi movies, you will also find the reverse happening.
RC tanks like ours being cut up, spliced and modified to look like something else entirely.
The Jawa Sandcrawler from the first Star Wars movie is a prime example of this. They built an RC miniature for the moving shots, and most of the drivetrain was cobbled together from a Tamiya Sherman.

Wow Panzer Fenris, that dude has some skills. It looks like he is the owner of a hobby shop perhaps? Very wide display of talents from electronics to CAD to 3D printing to painting to diorama. Pretty impressive. I would assume some tanker here has at some point made a USMC tank with flamethrower for attaching diorama pillboxes? Also, I had no idea the Sandcrawler was made from a Tamiya Sherman. I will share with my son!

That is pretty cool Son of a gun-ner. I guess like most of the guys here, I find myself sometimes fascinated by the Wunderwaffe of Nazi Germany. If not the Landkreuzer P. 1000 Ratte, then the "null graviton field" projected by the Haunebu, ... or this strange creation:
This concept VTOL fighter was actually under development from 1944 -45.
Makes sense that the Nazis would have a "Krabbenpanzer."
Nazi's though, ... as my small son likes to say, ... "not all in it in the head." They drove away the very Ashkenazi intelligence that would have given them Wunderwaffe.

Fun fact: Star Wars Sandcrawler used modified Tamiya Sherman tracks.
