Airbrush Compressor- be warned
Airbrush Compressor- be warned
Evening all. I'm progressing to the painting stage on my Normandy Tiger mid production build here:viewtopic.php?p=348221#p348221
I got the compressor out and while painting it wobbled off the table. The back plate came off revealing the absolutely shocking and dangerous wiring inside, as you will see from the pics.
Wire joints are twisted together and taped, and there's bare power switch wire right next to the metal case. This runs on mains voltage.
If you have bought one take off the back and check the wiring before it kills you.

Dang! Did you get that used?
That's some genuine cretin-level electrical tape repair right there!
Mike.

I wonder, too, if you were the first user, if it’s a hobby compressor that had been returned previously—what’s this nasty little beasty’s history? Do you have any knowledge of its past?

I've got the same compressor, though the tag is different.
My wiring is a bit cleaner, but thanks for the heads up. My power switch has three post, yours two, my switch lights up when on (I'm sure yours does not).
Can you see why I posted the thread about compressor jumping to its death. Apparently yours had a different idea. viewtopic.php?t=34644

Try a plush carpet square under the compressor to stop walking.

So in response, I bought it new about 7 years ago. Never thought to open it up to check the wiring but feel damn lucky it decided to lemming itself off the table.
I've a new pressure shut off switch on order, malleted the casing back into shape and will do the wiring properly when the new switch arrives.

I'd be looking at a black eye as a minimum, or divorce at worst, if I screwed the compressor to the dining tableEcam wrote: ↑Wed Jan 17, 2024 12:05 am I've got the same compressor, though the tag is different.

Re: Airbrush Compressor- be warned
The insulating tape is the strange bit.
Yon twisty connectors would be the quickest way to churn them out in an 'assembly line'.
Taping would be slow. More something an end user would do.
Possibly bought a return.
Edit: How much do you trust the Wife? Does she suggest spraying parts when you're in the bath?

I should add that the yellow tape is mine to insulate the switch terminal but the black tape most certainly isn't.
