Tamiya Konghead

Hey folks,

Not had much time for my RCs in the last few months but got a Konghead for Xmas. My first lexan shell paint job, pretty pleased with how it came out. Not box art and didn't use all the decals.

Upgrades are optional rear steer, ballraced throughout, 5400kv 3650 brushless motor and hobbywing 120a G2 esc. 35kg coreless servo up front and a 30kg servo for the rear steer, Kimbrough servo saver, tamiya GF-01 alloy shocks, GF-01 steering arm.

First time running an Rx with a gyro, but once dialed in works a treat!

I remember how confused I was when doing my first Lexan paint job. thinking in reverse of what to paint first and so on.

I've heard of gyros on choppers (and tanks) but never on a car/truck. What does it do?

Oh yeah that part gets me! And so much masking tape.

The gyro works like an aircraft gyro, keeps the vehicle pointing in the right direction. Took a bit of dialing in as with too much gain your car ends up doing a funny wobble, a bit like a submarine porpoising.

The RC drift folk seem to use gyros a lot

Learn something new everyday! I still remember the wiper (resistor/rheostat?) on channel two for the throttle and using stick radios because wheel types weren't out yet!

I bought a original monster beetle still had the mechanical speed controller! I actually didn't mind the 3 speed forward and 1 reverse!
