Aberdeen Field Trip

Post by Saxondog »

Matt, not sure where this should go so pardon me if this is the wrong board,To all the U.S.members I thought a trip to meet at Aberdeen might be something that others would be interested in.I'm in Memphis,Tn.so really it's not that far for me.It would be nice to meet and maybe bring our armor and idea's for a day together.Just think it would be a great experiance to tour Aberdeen with other forum members, the UK guy's seem to get together more often, but then our Country is a little bit larger.Well if their is an interest we can start to plan from here.Blake A.K.A.Saxondog

I'm in.      Let me know on possible dates. I ran my tanks with the new director last fall on the lawn infront of the Museum. He is first rate.                                              Bob thecommandernj

I'll look forward to it. I also recently visited the US Army Heritage Center in Carlisle PA near Hersey. If you drive there are other items of interest along the way. There is the AAF Tank Museum in Danville, VA just north of Greensboro NC. That's the one with the indoor RC tank battlefield. Just one hour NW from there is the D-Day Memorial in Bedford, VA. These are all great spots. When I was in Aberdeen meeting the new director (Joe Ranier) I showed him my RC tanks. I asked him if they were ever going to have an open house or field day. We battled some tanks on the lawn of the APG. He was very knowledgeable and forthcoming. Later, he shared a weapons demo he was presenting to some officers station there.

Sounds like my kind of fun,It just goes to prove what a great country we have.If you have never been check out,USS Alabama,Battleship park, sorry don't have the link,But they have everything we like.Battleship, submarine, tanks aircraft, just a great place,it's in mobile,Alabama right on the gulf. Hopefully we can get a trip planned so some of the US Members can meet. Thanks for the information,I would be willing to paint the Jagdpanther for them if they could provide the paint I would be happy to donate my time and labor,we could all have a paint party.Just think that would be something to help preserve these weapons, Blake

I've been to the USS North carolina and the Intrepid Mus. in NYC. The Intrepid is only 20 miles away. It took the how many years to do the cosmentic facelift on the Elefant. Did you see that on Tank Overhaul?  Bob
