A Christmas Build for fun

Post by Meter rat »

If this is in an inappropriate area, would the moderators move it please?

Started this the other day, with one of the residents at work. A lovely old gentleman, who unfortunately, suffers from dementia. As do a lot of the residents. He served in the Royal Engineers, at the end of the WW2. This gentleman also helped with my Tiger build. Such a shame his short term memory is poor. Using the Tamiya chassis, a top was built to cover the wheels, on which a wooden reindeer will fit.

A second chassis was then used and a sleigh was built to fit over it. This will be towed behind the reindeer equipped chassis.

Still a work in progress. It needs painting, glitter, and lights added. Hopefully this will bring a little joy, fun, and happiness to the residents on Christmas morning.

Superb, absolutly superb!
Not to cause project creep, but will you run some lighting wires up to Rudolph's nose and a smoker to the nostrils? They do work hard Christmas Eve.

Thank you.

An LED for the nose I had thought about. The smoker I had never thought about. I may investigate if I have time.

Oh, as a widower who spent thirteen years helping a wife with Alzheimer‘s, I heartily (and close to tearfully) applaud your engaging someone in an enjoyable project, a project likely to bring giggles to others, too. This is superb!

Today I got the sleigh painted. Too cold in our little potting shed, and I was not allowed to paint inside. Just need to paint the runners. Which will get done tomorrow. Then it’s holidays for 10 days.

Routing through the loft, where the cast off and broken stuff is dumped, I came across this wee fellow.

Twenty minutes with with a soldering iron, and between myself, and said gentleman, we got him working. It is incredibly annoying, but it made the pair of us giggle like children. Or it could have been due to watching Still Game. Tow bar is made from a broken none shatter ruler, and lights have been added.

Considering it is made out of scrap, by an elderly person with dementia, and an incompetent buffoon. I don’t think it is to bad. :lolno:
