The power of sound

Post by menright »

I know sound systems have been discussed a fair bit in the past but was just wondering what sort of impact these smaller sound systems have on say a 1/6 scale tank and are they worth the cost and effort. Can you really acheieve a loud bass heavy sound in such small model. Given that a 1/6 scale model has a great deal of impact do you not need a sound that matches it and is this possible? I have built loads of bigger sound systems but am struggeling a bit with how you get a big sound in such a small space?
Any ideas would be welcome.

There is A LOT of room in 1/6 tanks for a big speaker and amplifier. My friend's Tiger II is so loud that the ground shakes at shows. Nothing spoils the reception of an RC tank like no sound when all you can hear is the whine of the gearbox.

I think most of the smaller systems can have an amp added to power larger speakers.

For example, the Bieier is very loud with a regular Visaton speaker reaching 80dB.
