Advice on internals.

Hi guys and gals….I have the HL Chally 2 that I’ve stripped out internally and now want to refit with better kit, I bought a 3D kit recoil barrel for it and says it can only be used with a Clarke TK board, I’m useless with all this stuff, would anyone be able to point me in the right direction on what to get and if preferable it being all plug in and go:
What upgraded gearbox to use that is available
Speaker
Control board (the Clarke ones)
Turret rotation servos (any other servos I’d need)
Transmitter/receiver
Any other kit I’d need??
I removed everything as I didn’t think the Ch2 deserved the equipment inside, I didn’t like the lights that come with these tanks either, I’m not bothered about putting them back in either. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
H

maxmekker would be the person to talk about clark boards and what would be best to use with them. A link to his profile

The Clark recoil can be used with other boards besides Clark. It can be used with any board (Clark, Elmod, ASP, TCB, SGS, Beier, and IBU) that has servo outputs. The Heng Long 6.1 and 7.1 boards can use the Clark recoil system as they have servo outputs. The HL 6.0 and 7.0 don't have servo outputs, but some have added other electronics to allow servo use on those boards.

Can you give us a bit more details. What the existing control system is? It an all plastic gearbox, tracks, and wheels? Or is it have any metal components?

The recoil kit I have was from a seller on eBay, they do numerous 3D printed stuff, I can’t see them on offer anymore but do recall them saying they only work with a Clark board….I took it apart as wanted to try and make it look a little more realistic, when firing the main gun it looks ridiculous the way it lunges back and the lights on the tank or awful.

Sorry for the delay in responding to you. My Challenger has a TK6.1, with a recoil from Dave at Forgebear. It requires a a plug putting in CN6. Having pictures of your recoil mechanism may be of benefit.
Transmitter. Get a HL 7.1, which has outputs for servos, as does the 6.1
Gear box. Mine currently has a standard HL steel one. Soon to be upgraded to the ultimate one. It has red motors for more torque, and slightly improved speed.
Servos can be used for gun elevation, and the recoil.
Turret rotation can be left alone.
If you read my build it will give you a good what’s involved in getting one up and working reliably.

These are the pics of the recoil kit I have, from the same supplier on eBay who does the Chobham kit, it looks like a decent recoil kit to me but don’t know if it only works off a Clark board or what….electronics aren’t my AOE so am completely clueless at the moment, hence asking what components I’d need to just install, plug in and away I go? Any help much appreciated.

What version of mfu board is it? The 6.0 and up has different levels of tank movement for when the gun fires from none to jackrabbit on methamphetamines. I like the setting of one up from none because a tank body does recoil slightly when the gun fires.
