Panzwer III, Amewi

Hi guys.
This Summer I did a little rebuild on my Amewi Panzer III.
Nothing fancy, no extra expensive metal parts, just the all plastic tank, Out of the Box.
This is how it came, as I said Out of the Box:



On this cheap model, the turret hatches cannot be opened.
Too bad, because I wanted to add a gunner and a loader to the turret.
From some friends in Germany, I received a turret from a Tauch Panzer.

Next I wanted to add some battle damage to the little guy.
The idea was, to remove the left front fender, and the right rear fender.
I also made a bend in the left rear fender, and a little one in the front right one.
I also cut out the grills, and replaced them by parts cut off from a kitchen sieve.

Next I made a railing out of brass, so I could put some stowage on the rear deck too



And after I sprayed the entire vehicle in Panzer Grau out of a rattle can, I could add the stowage.
These is a set from "das Werk" which I really can recommend. Excellent set, nicely detailed too.



I also put some spare track links on the turret roof to provide extra protection for the crew.
Also I swapped the plastic headlights for 2 metal ones.

95% of my figures do come out of China.
Good price, good quality, nicely detailed, so I just think they are perfect for me!
Because I do have some figures double, and I do not want to have the same guys in the same pose on several tanks, I decided to just change the heads on two of 'm.

I wanted to show, that you can build a nice model from a plastic tank too.
Sure, the metal ones have better driving results due to their weight.
The tracks can be run quite loose, compared to the plastic ones, because these get thrown off when not adjusted the right way.
But if your not into big money right away, a plastic one can do the job.
And you can always upgrade to metal parts as soon as your finances allow that. If you want to upgrade anyway.
I do own lots of metal and plastic tanks, and the plastic ones do not mean less fun to built.
They are just cheaper to start with.
