Greetings!

Post by Champagne »

Hello Everyone on the forums! I'm a student from Singapore, and a newbie into the world of RC Tanks.
I've been trying to restore an old Tamyia M26 Pershing for awhile but lack of time due to studies and how fragile it is has halted the restoration for awhile. It has been a pain in the arse to fix up. I'm delighted to join this community! Could anyone recommend me where to find 1/16 RC French tanks for sale? I'm trying to find a replacement for the Pershing as I don't think it might last long. Moreover, I'm a fan of French, British and American armour especially Cold War tanks like the AMX 30, Chieftain and M60.

Welcome Champagne, to the Forum and world of RC Tanks. There are Cold War options for sure. Not many or any French that I know of. But there are many friendly knowledgeable members here to help and guide you.

Majular Singapura and then they changed the national Anthem,
Welcome to the Forum, I had the pleasure of being based in Singapore in the 60s and 70s (Seletar and Changi) Great country Wonderful people,
The humidity i could have managed without though,
I have long wondered why none of the major companies have not produced an R/C model of the most prolific French Tank of WW2 "The Char B",
As to recommendations of Cold War Tanks I have recently bought a "Haya Vickers Centurion" In Kit form it cost £400 rather more for an RTR,
Enjoy the Forum and do ask lots of Questions.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Champagne: a heartfelt welcome from an old guy in the United States. There is an unfortunate dearth of French tanks of any vintage, although some can be had if one has 3D printing ability or can arrange so. One of the wizards on RCTW will probably tip you off as to the source. For Cold War tanks, just as jarndice points out, there are the new Haya Centurion (https://www.hayaltd.co.uk/) and the U.S. light tank, the M41 Walker Bulldog (made both by HengLong and Torro/Taigen, all with some detail inaccuracies). Although fortunately never used by the U.S. in war, the Walker Bulldog was known around the world. In a quick search I have not been able to determine if Singapore ever used the Walker Bulldog. If you use the search box on the upper right and successively enter the terms AMX, Chieftain, and M60, you will see that these have all had some attention here. Haya has a Chieftain for sale in various versions, and the M60 has been offered in three versions by Tongde, but with significant weaknesses for running.
Are your studies specialized in any way? (I am, indeed, a retired professor, but "Herr Dr. Professor" is something of an overstated title for fun.)

Welcome from Ontario, Canada!
An AMX 13 with that crazy oscillating turret would be very cool! Way back when Tamiya announced a modern tank release I was silently chanting, "AMX 13, AMX 13, AMX 13"...and out came the Bradley. Sigh...
Not sure if you do Eastern Bloc stuff, but HL's T-72 is a solid runner. My first Heng Long in about 10 years and I couldn't believe the progress they had made pretty much everywhere.

Welcome. The AMX-13 is available as a complete styrene/resin kit from Ludwigs, but there may be a version of it 3D printable if Inkor decides to make it. He will be releasing the LeClerc later this year along with the Tortoise.

Unfortunately not at the moment, I'm currently studying for the N Level Examinations near the end of the year. Though I do plan to learn mechanical engineering at Ngee Ann poly here.
