The electric slip ring

Post by mrmetallica »

what does this mean ? Warning: The electric slip ring of TK6.0 and TK7.0 can't be used on TK7.1 main board, you need to buy a TK7.1 slip ring.

It allows for the turret to rotate greater than 360 degrees in the same direction continuously without winding the wiring between the turret and lower pulling tight and tearing it loose.

thank you
so is it just a longer loom ? could i make one instead of buying one ?
If you decided to go this route you would also need to either modify the turret ring gear teeth or get a kit like the following-

https://www.aliexpress.us/item/32568035 ... _shipto=US

This is only if you want the turret to be able to rotate entirely 360 degrees. Many people that I've seen forgo this option because they report it not necessary and or not entirely reliable. Many just leave the wiring alone and modify the turret gear teeth But if this is done yes the turret will turn past the physical stop on the stock gear teeth but must be handled with care and Not spun around and around as it will damage the wiring.

It's your option. it's not necessary. Many of us have tanks with them either or both or all ways.

To me 360 degree turret turning is not a deal breaker. Only 2 of my 6 tanks have it.

If the tank does not have gun stabilization I think you will not miss the slip ring much. That’s the only time I have found not having a slip ring to be problematic in my experience.

The advantage of a 320 degree turret slip ring over a 360 is most valued with Tanks such as the Tiger 1 which has nothing else to stop the turret main gun and aerial meeting in the heat of the moment.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

:'( if they are WW II tanks? more generally, located on the upper chassis, apart from a few, such as the Sherman, what is your tank model?
