Help with recoil mechanics
I purchased this recoil mechanism from Dave at Forge Bear, but I’ll be blowed if I can get it to work
Any help on getting this wired, and working, would be helpful, if is anyone has installed this type of recoil? Or have I cocked up and should have purchased the cannon smoke as well?-

Re: Help with recoil mechanics
Hello, why do you say that will not works
the smoke generator is not compulsory, you just need to have electronics working with a standard radio, and not an HL or Taigen, which comes with the original commercial tanks. On the other hand, you will have to mechanicalize it a little, depending on the model tank to adapt it, also have the aluminum barrel, and its sliding ring.

Re: Help with recoil mechanics
What main control board are you using? If it's a Heng Long board and it's not a 6.1 or a 7.1, than it won't work as it needs a servo port. The standard 6.0 and 7.0 boards do not have a servo port.

Re: Help with recoil mechanics
plug the 3 cable into CN7 and make a looped jumper for the trigger CN6 by getting a plug & joining both sides together. That will get you the sound when the gun is fired.

Re: Help with recoil mechanics
Thank you for the replies.
The board is a 6.1 bought Christmas 2022, at the same time as the recoil unit. Due to life this is the first time I have really looked in depth at the system. The servo lead was plugged into CN7 as per the diagram for testing. Looks like it may be a faulty board then.

Re: Help with recoil mechanics
Try plugging it in both ways. It will go in either way as there is no 'key' to orientate it one way or the other.
It gets me a lot.
If the servo works full range by plugging it into the servo elevation port(CN8) and can be run off the stick then you may be onto something.
I still reckon its something simple.
Make sure you also have the jumper loop in the trigger port just in case, but that shouldnt make a difference.
I have fitted 2 of those recoil units to 6.1s boards for someone else & they are very very good

Re: Help with recoil mechanics
Thank you all again for your help.
I have been through all the obvious checks like changing the direction of the plug prior to asking on here, if I have missed something obvious. Now that makes me sound ungrateful for all the advice. I will have one more go later and I will make a jumper lead tonight and try that and see what happens.
Regards Ian.

Re: Help with recoil mechanics
you only have this problem with this plate? are you sure that the servo is working properly? without forgetting the advice of Mr.Bix (shunt on CN 6) test the servo on another TX / RX set, a servo tester is very useful in this case, absolutely nothing happens when connecting? servo? for example with the turntable under power, should hear a slight noise or see a possible movement of the control arm, as Mr. Bix says, must be something simple, hence the need to do all kinds of tests, before deducting general failure? I hope I didn't confuse too much
