Interesting Testors Paint discovery

Interesting at least for me so I thought I'd share since I did not know and I don't know how many others do-




Yep Testors can model spray paint is manufactured by Rust-Oleum.

Interesting tidbit I thought. Mods if this belongs somewhere else feel free to move it. If I'm late to the game and it has been shared before just let this post die a tragic death.

Yeah, they bought Testors a few years back. It's the same reason it seems that the Model Masters series of paints was killed. Testors was slowly dying with all of the different paint options on the market. Testors and Tamiya paints were pretty much all I used as a kid, but now there are soooo many other companies doing paints. I stocked up on a few Model Masters colors before they completely went away.

I sometimes use Tamiya paints but more often Humbrol,
what I have never used is Testors primarily because I was not aware it is on sale here,
Someone tell me where I can get it in the UK and I shall give it a try.

I have no idea what has happened to Model Master.

I do know that the Testors brand is not available outside Canada and the U.S.

That's a shame cuz model painting people swear by Testors Dullcote. I previously used Tamiya Matte but I made a decent order from Megahobby and picked up the 3 pak of testors to try out. We''ll see how it works on my new project.

Testors itself wasn't killed so as far as I know their dullcote is still available. They still have an acrylic line and an enamel model paint line. Model Masters by Testors was most definitely killed. They said they were consolidating paint lines and discontinuing some military colors. They are actually expanding their hobby lines of paint that are not geared toward modeling.

This is only proof of ownership, Testors probably still have their own factory, with minor interference. And manufacture their paint to their usual formula.
I used to purchase Testors from my local English toy/model shop more than 50 years ago.
It probably is because of competition and the demise of model shops that we don't see Testors so widely available.
There are British online sellers of these paints.

I still purchase and use Testors dull cote. The only change I see to the product is the Rustoleum logo on the bottom of the can. The product still sprays and smells the same plus the awesome quick drying properties. Breck
