Past RC Experience:
In the 80's, I had an RC place (basic trainer), Heli (Cricket) and car (Tamiya Falcon). As a result of the first two, I still love the smell of Nitro.

Past RC Tank Experience:
Hobby shop I used to go to when I was a kid had a Tamiya Sherman on display, and I wanted that sooo bad. Couldn't afford it at age 9.

Since then Ive oned a Tamiya 1/16th scale Tiger II (never built it) and a 1/15 Bandai Tiger I ( also never built).

Current RC Tank Experience:
I decided to finally get an RC Tank and actually run it, so I asked my wife for a Heng Long Tiger 1 metal edition for Christmas. She is awesome and got it for me! I loved it, but it crapped out within an hour of being out of the box.

The Heng Long is getting returned and with all of the research I've done since, decided to go with a Taigen Early Tiger I (metal upgrades and current V3 electronics). That's on backorder unfortunately. I've also ordered an HD FPV set-up, which I'm going to place on top of the commanders ccoupon.

What a great introduction from the Shaky Side! (That will keep those across the pond wondering what I mean. ) Thank you for being so conscientious. I have plenty of HengLong tanks and like 'em all. But the Taigen/Torro with metal and V3 electronics are my favorites, generally reliable right out of the box with decent sound at least somewhat specific to the tank (even if not nearly as good as what many here on RCTW can accomplish.) Is your Tiger I coming from right here in the U.S. (See e.g. https://www.taigentanks.com/collections ... s/tag12030) or from the UK or Germany?

That is the Taigen version I'm getting, but I'm buying it from an armour museum. It'll be super cheap and I'm supporting a good cause.

Even though it's got a decent paint job already, I wanted the early version so I could a replica of Tiger 131

Welcome aboard from Southern Illinois! The old Tigers are by far my favorite tank. Especially the few Initial Production Tigers. Mine has the Taigen metal lower hull, Heng Long upper deck and the rest is made up of various manufacturers parts and electronics. I’ve bored this forum to death with this video but I present it to you for your possible enjoyment.

"I'm buying it from an armour museum." Might that be the AAF Tank Museum (https://www.aaftankmuseum.com/)? (I don't think the incredible museums in the Seattle area sell 1/16 AFVs.)

On a serious note, Jim used a servo directly wired into the ten channel receiver he used. Hopefully he'll notice this convo and add to it to be more specific.

Sorry. I missed this somehow.
Yes, I ran a connecting rod from the head, through the torso and into a small servo in the turret. Directly connected the servo to my receiver. I programmed my radio (thanks Rad) so that the head turns with turret rotation or when turning the tank or with a slider on the side of the radio. That way his head turns with tank or turret turning and also independently if desired.
