Newbie to the model tank forum

Post by jaybe64 »

:headbang: hi all I am John and I live in East Anglia United Kingdom. I am a total novice when it comes to model tanks . I can strip n rebuild a full size car but no clue on tanks. Well I bought this Heng long panther tank mk V . Well I've found out it's a pantiger or something like that. Its lower half being the tiger 1 and gun turret machine gun panther. Well it's been stood for 11yrs and so decided to get it going so bought new battery 7.2v but it still didn't really respond so I looked on certain auction site and went for the TK-7 well that's it iam stuck as pulled all the connections apart ( mother board ) so trying to wire in upgraded smoker 7.4v new speaker machine gun next the metal gearbox . If I can fit the recoil barrel but I shall be asking soon on here for advice how to make it fit n work . I have metal drive wheels and idlers on order I have the metal tracks but I need to get a,7.4v battery also . Well thanks all and this is me

Ah, the Pantiger! You are not the first to get that kit and discover that it wasn't what was expected when it arrived. I've yet to order a Panther for that reason. If you search Pantiger, you'll see what options you have to make it what you want. Working with autos I'll bet you're up to the task. Ask your questions, and you'll get plenty of help here on the forum.

Welcome aboard!

:) Hello and welcome to the forum !! Ha the famous Pantiger, browse the forum "post Heng Long" and you should find there many answers to your questions
if I understand ? do you want to adapt new electronics? who was there originally? 27 Mhz or 2.4 Ghz, why not do the tests already with the existing one? if everything is complete of course!!! an interior photo would be welcome
I confirm, what our friend said above, if you disassemble full-size vehicles, there should be no worries for an RC tank

Pantiger is great to train your painting and weathering skills (but don't show it anywhere) :haha:

jaybe64, don't let these experts shame you about the "Pantiger" just because they are knowledgeable, skilled, and friendly teasers. :haha: I have a PanTiger, too, an early one with the goofy "programmable" electronics. I keep it as original just because it's a hoot and someday after everyone has either modified or crushed all the stock ones, I will have a rare HengLong tank. :lolno:

Doc whatever else the Pantiger may be It will never be rare :haha:
When the biggest toy maker in the world tested the waters of r/c Armour with the Tiger 1 they were taken aback by the massive demand,
Quickly realising that they needed a follow up for the Christmas market and having nothing ready they used the Tiger 1 hull and bodged a body to fit Hence the Pantiger(Our name not Heng Longs),
We "experts" laugh but to heng long it was a profitable toy and they never pretended it to be anything else  Nobody had demanded pinpoint accuracy of their teddy bears and dolls so what's the fuss they say and it still sells like hot cakes alongside the Abrams and Challengers which are quite reasonable facsimiles so whatever our opinions I don't think the accountants at Heng Long really care.
Every Christmas they sell yet more of the things so I reckon the jokes on us  :haha:
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:
