Hello,
I will be at Bovington this Thursday (13th oct) does anyone want pics of anything in particular ?
I have not been before so not sure what is on display other than the obvious tiger etc .
Let me know and I will do my best to get decent photos .

Re: Bovington
Oooh, you gentleman.
Yes please to a nice rear end shot of the smoke pipes of an M4A4 Sherman, sadly a couple of us can't see just how or where the exhaust comes out, and this is the best picture we have.

Looking at this cross section https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File ... utaway.png, I'm not sure you're going to see them unless you are able to get directly underneath the rear overhang as they seem to be against the rear plate.
Having the exhaust tips not stick out would be consistant with the exhaust cover on the M4A4 DD at the bottom of this page http://the.shadock.free.fr/sherman_minu ... doors.html - which pretty much just looks like a plain trough fitted to the bottom of the overhang forming a simple U-bend.

Re: Bovington
Thank you very much, that would be much appreciated, as you can see from the diagram, it's more like an up skirt shot

Re: Bovington
Hello,
I was able to get up the skirt (oh err missus) of the M4 , a bit disappointing. There was a sheet of plywood in the place of the grille. I signed up to Photobucket so hopefully the images are better.

I was able to get under the firefly, if they are of use ?
thanks to my wife for the use of her iPhone. I was able to stick the phone through the louvres.

As you can see they are quite well hidden, if the louvres are in place they are not visible at all.
I did enjoy the museum , as a newbie to tanks it was overload. My wife also enjoyed it, the human stories that accompanied the exhibits, particularly the WW1 exhibition. She thought the MK IV was quite roomy inside !
Dorset is a lovely part of the UK , we may go back next year. We spent 5 hours inside but I still don’t think I took it all in. I was able to get some good images of the S103 to help my build. But as I’m 5’9 with thick socks and shoes it was a bit of stretch to get shots of the top.
