ESC for my Tamiya King Tiger- anyone tried one of these?

I am looking for an ESC for my King Tiger which will have a dual motor drive but I don't want to pay thru the nose for a Tamiya DMD unit. I am not combatting, just tooling around in the grass of my yard. I already have a 4 channel radio that works great, so I'm just seeing what I can do for my ESC. Has anyone used one of these and what did you think of it?

Don't go near them they just do not work. Your best bet is to go for 2 Mytronics or somthing similar ( marine 15 or 20 amp ) ESC's and a v mixer. I have seen these on evilbay and the price works out about the same. I have used this setup in a 1/25 scale Panther and it works well. All the best for now

I agree with Tankman on that. I've got one, supposedly 27Mhz FM and can't get it to work.

Stay well away from these, they are truly awful.

I had one a few years ago in a Wasan T-34 and whilst I got it programmed OK (eventually), it glitched like crazy and had a range of less than 15 feet.

Total rubbish IMO.

Hi Best bet is keep an eye out on ebay for T01 DMD ,you can get them for about £30 max .Or spend a little more and buy the new DMD and if you want later you could upgrade with the MF unit and ful option .

Another option with two esc's is to have one on each stick.

A cheap and chearful way (and this is how I run my T34) is to have 1 esc and have a servo between 2 switches.When the servo is in the middle position the esc powers both motors,each switch being in the normally closed position.Moving the servo left or right will activate the switch and shut off power to the relevant motor,the switch then being in the normally open position.It's a bit clunky,but it works.

If I went with that, I'd keep the original clutch system and go with a dual motor (or heavy duty single motor capable) capable ESC (like I already have). But then it is a case of on/off for each track, whereas with my Heng Long tanks, I've gotten used to being able to do slow gradual turns. But I may go that way initially- can always change it afterwards. But thanks for the idea.

Looks good, but I think I'd go a little more robust and go with http://www.robotmarketplace.com/products/0-SABER2X5-RC.html. Same family, but good up to 10 amps per motor. I'm a victim of the RX13/RX14 failure due to stalled motors and a couple of bucks more and I have peace of mind.

They have the same price and charge only $2.50 for international shipping. So far I've gotten great communication with them on the same day. I just need to know now that it will work off my 6 volt lead acid battery pack- these things shut down when they have low power. If I was using a standard 7.2 volt battery, I would have ordered yesterday when I found them.

The ratings on the 10A Sabertooth look great though- 5 stars! I think I may have found my speed controller!
