Hello

Post by BMG50 »

Hi thanks for letting me join your site. My interest in tanks are early WW2 British tanks. Been modelling for years, i have moved away from kits such as 1/35 scale as they are too small to work on prefer bigger stuff, the bigger the better. Hopefully i can get advice on builds browsing the forum and keep up with the latest trends.

Cheers! Would your turning to 1/16 have anything to do with age and eyesight? If so, join the old age and bad eyesight club! :haha: If not, hey, we 'Murricans love big toys. ;) Do you plan to do any radio controlled tanks or other AFVs? Some of the wizards here on RCTW convert Takom or Trumpeter kits to RC. Then, too, I like static kits (currently on a Takom Type 95) and RC (slowly working on an Asiatam FAMO) and I find that detail painting and weathering mass-production RC tanks can be satisfying, too. It's all fun. Keep us informed of what you're up to.

Welcome to the Forum
Of course 1/35 is too small as my 1/35 Tamiya Panzer 4 still in its unopened box will attest :lolno: :lolno:
I have had my cataracts fixed care of the NHS but 1/16 is still the scale that rewards most in my opinion,
Ask the questions and enjoy the Forum.
Oh by the way we are far too old to do TRENDS :haha:
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Eye sight is one problem but i can correct that, its just that some parts are so detailed in smaller scales that the parts are too small to deal with like cutting and cleaning, then i drop or the part pings off for ever and thats it, its not modelling its then becomes a chore. I love big scale, easy to work with and can be turned it into RC. I plan one day to scratch build full size, but a step at a time for now which i am experimenting with and feasibility of buildi. I have started a Covenanter, copied from a Polish cardboard 1/25 model and enlarged it on a photo copier using 1.5 thin ply for the body, cut out with ruler and scalpel hard work for now, hope to go the laser cutting way, at the moment i am doing the suspension. Going to be trial and error, the Covenanter is a odd shaped hull in its design because of the amount of equipment and auxiliaries which hide the hull profile, difficult to see which is armour or mud shield's etc.
