Enertia device for you Tamiya Tank

Just received the first two Turnigy chips. This little item plugs in to the #2 Throttle circuit from the DMD, and then from the chip plugs in to the Throttle position on your receiver. That simple. All you need is this device, at about 10 bucks landed in your hand from HK, here's the link to order if you desire.

Installation is quite simple. Plug in the throttle cable from the DMD to the left upper section of the Turnigy. Obtain a double female ended cable, and plug that cable in to the right upper section of the Turnigy and the "throttle" port of your receiver. That's it. Then, do the following:
Put the tank up on a block so the treads are off the surface.
Set the reverse switch to "normal", set both other pots in the middle, and then, try the tank.You will find it acts like a real tank. However, YOU MUST TURN ON THE RADIO FIRST. If you turn on the tank first, it takes off like a shot for about 2 meters, then stops. This should be SOP, turning on the radio first, but this general rule is not always adhered to. Even without the Turnigy, turning your tank on before your radio may cause the tank to react to spare radio waves floating around in the ether. You can then adjust either pot to obtain the amount of enertia you want with both acceleration and deceleration. That simple.

This inexpensive little device will have a number of advantages.
1. No more "swing" shots. You just can't do it with this unit installed and adjusted even to almost minimum values.
2. TU life will be dramatically improved, as you can not "jackrabbit" it from forward to reverse. Again, just can't do it. This thing gives you the enertia of a real tank.
3. Will add much greater realism to the battles, as now it is no longer "high speed rc car laser tag", but pretty much true tank movement, stalking, tactics, planning, and team cooperation needed.
4. Gone also will be the "slope defence", to wit, backing up on a slope to cover your apple, in other words putting the apple on a much different plain than your adversary, and then popping down for a quick shot and then back up on the slope. Again, with the enertia of the Turnigy, it can't be done. You can still back up or pull up on a slope, you just can't speedily get down again for a fast shot and then quick reverse back up.

All in all, I am quite pleased with this little item.

Hi I need one off these in my Tamiya Pershing to stop my grandson racing around like hes in a race he can flatten a battery real quick.

Hi Just bought one on E bay to stop the grandson racing next time he gets hold of the Pershing he will wonder whats happened  ::) ::) ::) he wont be able to wizz round like he can now.

you need to be sure to leave yourself plenty of braking room - the inertia works both ways...

From what I can tell, both acceleration and braking is seperately adjustable. I'm still experimenting as time allows today. Got a ton to do getting tanques ready for Odessa.
Being adjustable, it allows you to take in to account the mass of the real tanque and such. Pretty neat little device.

I fitted one to my Tiger the other day, and its awesome! Im also tweaking it at the moment. I need to watch more videos of the real tank to get it to scale though.
The thing I love the most is the way the front lifts slightly as you accelerate like the real thing. It really is such a simple and cheap, but effective mod.
