Ostfront Offensive Russia

Post by Rob59 »

Last year December, we (my colleague Mark an I) took some of our German armour outdoors to shoot some scenes.
It worked out very well, but check them out yourselves:

It has been quite some work to accomplish these scenes.
Weather was shit, but it was worth it.

Those photos are a joy to look at. Love the VWs! The Eastern Front is my favorite aspect to read about and model. Your weathering and arrangements are top notch.

I was thinking about what fun it must have been to set up the models and take the photos, and I wondered what they would look like in black and white. And lo and behold! You did it! Bravo!

With 2 people, sharing the same hobby, it is much, much more fun taking pics outdoors compared to being allone out there.
Even the fact we had to lay down on our bellies in the dirt and mud, didn't spoil the day!
We definitely will go back there for another shoot one day.

Ditto to all the plaudits here, Rob  The models are expertly prepared and staged (great tableaux). Is the Tiger 1 at the top meant to be a 'damaged/recovered' example, I wonder? :) It looks so war-torn that it might have been recovered from a Russian swamp, or perhaps it was one manned by Leutnant Zabel (commander of the 'Tiger that wouldn't die'. His Tiger 231 was hit over 250 times, but kept on going.)
