Kellys Heroes Tiger

Post by tankmad »

I have been planning on building this for the last couple of years and I have finally got round to doing it. As any tanker will know the actual tiger tanks in the movie are not real tiger tanks but t34s done up to look like tiger tanks so to make it look like the ones hollywood made I will use a t34 base with a tiger top I will also use heng long s&s electronics to make it go. When I first put the tiger top on of the the t34 base it was too wide for it so rather than trying to make the top smaller I decided to widen the base which meant cutting it in half and adding a inch  ;D. I put it together again with a aluminium base and riveted it together again. I have put a charging jack in on the base of one of the exhausts so it can be charged without the hassle of opening it up I have also put zimmerit on it using caulk and a axesaw blade as the one in the film has it in the close up shots I will keep you posted on the progress if there is interest.

How do you do a charging plug? I have a T34 that I fitting with Elmod kit and would love to put a charging plug somewhere out of the way.

Hi rob I bought a female jack at maplins and drilled a hole on the bottom of the exhaust as you can see in the picture then wired it to the on off switch you can buy a universal charger at any diy or electrical shop.

So am I correct in thinking that you simply turn the tank off and then plug the charger in, and that you have dual wires from the battery, one pair to the switch/board and one pair to the jack socket.

What happens if you forget to turn the tank off, just assuming that you did it this way.

Hi Wibblywobbly here is a diagram of the wiring I done I used the existing switch I took off the wires that were on it and wired one side to the charging jack the other to the main board with the centre 2 pins to the battery when the switch is in the on position it will act as normal when you switch it off you will be ready to charge if you want all you do is put the charger in to complete the circuit hope this helps . Thanks for the kind words lads its appreciated.
