Pz IV in Kubinka/Patriot Park

Post by jee »

Unfortunately not so much detailed pictures as I assumed there are many walkarounds available on the net about the Pz Iv.

As I didn't make a picture of the sign, I copy and past the translated version from the website:

Country of origin: Germany
Manufactured in: 1938
Uniqueness: common
Era of: times of war
Type: Tank
Seriality: serial build
Description
The PanzerKampfWagen IV Ausf G medium tank is one of the modifications of the most massive tank of Nazi Germany, the Pz.Kpfw.IV, developed by the Krupp-Gruson company. The first modifications of the Pz.Kpfw.IV with 50mm cannons entered service with the Wehrmacht in 1938. On November 18, 1941, the German Arms Directorate issued an order for the development of a 75-mm tank gun with a 43-caliber barrel for the Pz.Kpfw.IV tank. The new molification received the name Pz.IVAufs.G was produced from May 1942 with a KwK40 cannon with a barrel length of 43 caliber, and from August - with a KwK40 cannon with a barrel length of 48 calibers. During production until April 1943, 1,687 units of this modification were manufactured.

Some useful details, nonetheless, Jee. It was also thoughtful of them to provide a set of steps!.

Thank you for the photos! Do you have any idea whether that's a restoration or original? It seems a bit roughed up for a restoration, but too good to be 75+ years old. Could it have been a captured PzKw IV that had seen little action? :lolno:

Herr Dr. Professor, I really don't know.
Unfortunately they don't give much info on the signs near the tanks.
Also on the website I can't find much.
Maybe the guides will tell a lot about it, but that is a bit too much for me :D

I can't help but be curious about the Eiffel Tower symbol on the front right mudguard/fender. I wonder whether the panzer regiment, this PZ IV belonged to, had played a significant role in the capture-that is to say, the surrender of Paris, with barely a shot being fired... :shh: ?

I had the same question ;) . According to this post on axishistory forum, the 23.Panzerdivision was formed in the area Paris and also used the Eifelturm as divisional emblem. After searching a bit, I also found this reference:

https://www.axishistory.com/books/150-g ... r-division

And It adjusts to the photo descripción :P
