Agora Models - Leopard 2A6

Post by wyvern »

Went to the Goodwood revival and looked in on the Agora Models stand which seem to cover Hachette Partworks type kits for the uk market. I noticed their 1:16 scale leopard 2A6 model which looks like a DIY Heng long / Taigen model. It has a camera so maybe using TK6.0 electronics. When I asked the rep if he had heard of heng long - he said he hadn't ! Alot of the inside looks to be familiar heng long kit. And the price - around £1300!

Good event though, isn't it! :)

I remember this model getting some prerelease exposure some months ago and being a little shocked by the price, particularly given its really awful, cheap looking transmitter. Their website doesn't appear to have any internal photos but l guess a small outfit like that would need to rely on open sourced electronics.

Its great - just too many bigger toys on offer I can't afford :D

He mentioned the on board camera and asked if the heng long model has that - I said yes it can be installed. There is probably more metal on this than the heng long model and I noticed the suspension giving up under the models weight so it looks a bit odd

The models seems to have quite a few metal parts in it (including the shell of the turret). Genial enthusiast, Wayne, takes us through a few stages of the build, and mentions this fact. Thing is, the end result doesn't impress any more than the Heng Long Version or Tamiya's offering. Built in part, you'd be spending way more than on a Taigen or HL example and as much, if not more, that on a Tamiya.

Detail parts, such as the machine, gun don't impress much. I'm guessing that 'Agora' have their bits manufactured in Heng Long's factory. Partworks can be a pain, especially if the supply dries up, for one reason or another (insolvency- for example) :/
