So, as i said in my introduction i have a new Panzer iv. This time round I've really got into it (unlike the last time).
I've had lots of fun upgrading/weathering, oh and searching for the correct decals. The idea that I could do up a vehicle and match it to a time and place I find fascinating. So, the last time, me, models and glue was in the same room, I was 14.
I've brought the turret shurzen from RCTANK DE, I've sprayed all the parts dunkelgelb (will camo once fitted).
Any tips.
Cheers Barry

Re: Panzer iv Shurzen
Panzer iv is a great tank and is on the (long) list of ones I'd like to do. Sounds like you have cracked it so far when you have said you're having fun.
Totally agree on a build thread, show us how it's going. Some amazingly talented people on here and any specific questions you have someone will have an answer for sure.
Best tips I can give are do loads of research, don't be afraid to jump in and give things a go, it's all about learning and the next build!

Re: Panzer iv Shurzen
Hi so glad that there is someone else with an interest in the PZ4,
The Turret Schurzen was first introduced on later versions of the PZ4 Ausf G but almost certainly not on the Ausf F2 it was also fitted on earlier variants of the Ausf H,
Later variants of the Ausf H had the Turret and the Hull/Track Armour as did the final PZ4 the Ausf J,
The later issue of the Ausf J had a Mesh Armour in a frame over the tracks instead of the earlier Plate
There are plenty of pictures of PZ4 Ausf D with Turret armour these were almost all School/Training Tanks to which the turret schurzen was a retro fit although a few Ausf D with retro fitted turret armour did see combat service one of which is on show at the Bovington Tank Museum in the UK.

The Turret schurzen will reward you with at least two dry runs before fitting permanently.
I used Tamiya's schurzen on a revised late issue Taigen Turret and it was a good fit but it did need a little adjusting before glueing,
Build it up on the bench ensuring the base of the schurzen is flat all round on the workbench,
Lining up the armour to the centre of the stowage box will ensure the correct overall alignment,
Pin vicing the holes on the top of the turret for the mounting struts is part of the dry run,
Getting that right will ensure you get a one off fit,
Do make sure the struts are absolutely square in the slots in the schurzen when gluing them in place.
It is quite easy but don't rush it and leave the Decals/Stencils till after the fit.
