I have three RC tanks, two 1/24 tanks and one 1/16 tank. The latter is a King Tiger by Tamiya that I'm currently building an aluminum upper hull for. I like customization, making something unique, so I decided that I will give the finished KT a new look. I've accumulated mostly everything for the project and look forward to sharing it.

yes, the hull is coming together rather well despite the lack of tools for the job.

I only asked because 427 was quite the common engine size back in the day. Not sure whether it still is

They produce a modern version of the 427 on a Ford Boss 351 block, so new and improved. I'm hoping they release a Cobra on The Crew 2 (driving game)

Whoa! Now that's sprezzatura: I'm new to this, so I think I'll try something easy, like a whole aluminum hull.

Welcome, oh modest master! Whew!

The good thing about the King Tiger upper hull is that it's made up of 5 straight panels. Cut out the panels, bond them together with some epoxy putty and you have good sturdy hull to match with Tamiya's sturdy aluminium chassis. Tamiya make a great sturdy aluminium chassis and then put a flimsy plastic hull on it, that's a shame. However, I didn't waste the plastic hull and integrated parts of it where there is detailing.

P.S: Before I post any more progress, I will start a build thread sometime today.

Fuel economy pretty much killed the old big block motors by the mid 2000's - I remember GM working on the final Big Block Chevy when I got out there to Pontiac in 2005, but I can't remember if it ever hit the market or not. Between the manufacturers getting hit with the CAFE stick, and the consumer seeing gas prices rise past $2.50/gallon, there wasn't much appetite for a big gasoline motor that did single digit fuel economy numbers when you actually wanted to do some work, vs a Diesel that gets high teens kind of numbers in the same situation.
