Heng Long Tiger 1 air filter pipes

Post by Soane »

Does anyone from the UK know where I can get a set of replacement air intake hoses, the textured type?

Of course the answer is more complicated than the question. First the pipes were multi sided in a metal frame so that the plastic pipes that come with Heng Long and Taigen/Torro Tanks are grossly inaccurate,
You could get some braided hose there are a number of threads to be found if you search the forum that show you how OR you could go to Who Else -----
http://www.forgebeartanks.com
Click on ABER and the first item is
"Aber Brass Photo Etch 16031 Tiger 1 Aus E Feifal Air Cleaners £16.99"
Do not be confused by the term Feifal Air Cleaners Because they are not , they are a set of sheets of PE that you wrap firmly around the Plastic Air Cleaner Tubes and as you do so the sheet takes up the multi sided shape you require,
It Is easy
The two sides can be soldered together or super glued,
The kit includes ends to the pipe which I never use because when you open your Tank they get in the way, Finish off by painting the tube with Metal Primer then the undercoat as normal.
It has taken me longer to describe what you do than actually doing the job.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Thanks for that, yeah I’ve used Forgebear several times, that kit looks a little fiddly. I searched YouTube for Tiger 131 as there are a couple of ‘walk around’ videos, one of those videos shows the guys stood on the rear deck with the intake pipes in clear view, they remind me of the hot-air intake pipes on a Beetle or 2CV so I’ve a better idea now of what I need to do

Yes Dave that was what I had in mind when I suggested our friend check out the threads that refer to air cleaner pipes.
Indeed that was the direction I travelled with my first Tiger 1 until your site directed me to the "Aber" product, So it is all your fault :haha: :haha: :haha:
The Rolls Royce of braided cable covers would be the Armoured Fuel pipe covers, but I doubt anyone could justify the extra cost.
