1/6 Jagdpanther

Post by xrad »

This is a static model. Anyone build one or know of the dealer? Might be a cool conversion to power. Looks like plastic tracks....

Same kit offered at BIG TANK of AMERICA,they claim metal kit and the tracks are plastic.Still I am converting the 1/6 Static TIGER VI in the big tanks section.I called big tanks and could not get a straight answer on the manufacturer.Sorry about no link,if you search it will come up,their in Florida. They have the FOV TIGER VI and it is r/c but rather light weight, and not very durable. Will this be your first 1/6 scale kit? Let me know because their are only a few of us on this side of the pond, and fewer this side of the Mississippi.I am planning a trip next month to Florida and intend to stop in at BIG TANKS to see whats up,be glad to drop you a line about these kits as my next will be the JAGDPANTHER 1/6.BLAKE aka SAXONDOG

Wow, thanks for the reply. It does look lightweight. Looks fairly scale. Problem is the wheels and tracks. drive wheels look rather week. and i don't want plastic tracks,

This would be my first 1/6. Perhaps a hull section from another vendor and the upper structure from this company?

Take a look at the TIGER VI I purchased, even with the damage from shipping it has a steel hull, and steel drive sprockets.so I knew I be upgrading the tracks but the tracks I have are stronger than plastic, some kind of UHMW and very strong.I have decided to modify my tracks and if they work great if they don't I'm no worse off.The main thing is a steel hull,if you start out with a steel hull then just like HENG-LONG tanks you upgrade until you have what you want and it still cost less.I really like the JAGDPANTHER they offer and if the bulk purchase deal does not work out.I will take that trip next month and see the tank first hand, that way we will both no what the JAGDPANTHER they offer is like.So hang in their and don't waste your money.SAX

Thanks, I will wait as I need to save some cash anyway. I spoke with Hans today of Big Tank. He was very helpful. Apparently, the JP has plastic wheels, tracks, and idler, driver wheels. Comes with axles, but no suspension(this I knew) Many parts are cast metal and other are plastic like the sowskopf (sp?). Also, looks like hull and superstructure may need some reinforcement....

Looked at some other sites for metal tracks as well. I can make the suspension and I can accept the plastic hull parts and thinner metal upper hull. I just don't want to make metal wheels or sprokets or tracks....

Will wait to here more info....

I really hope Hans does not get upset as I posted some of the pics he emailed me below. It would be real nice to get his kit and metal lower system and have the whole thing built for under two grand.

cheers, x

That's the real issue, metal running gear.I am making the control arms and the spring tension bars, retainers, axles but my wheels will work fine once bored for bearings, the hull is solid with rails inside similar to the heng-long upgrade bars. All in all I would be fine if the sprockets had not been shattered in shipping.and the vendor is giving me the run around which is bad.Mark1 250L FOR SPROCKETS,600L FOR TRACKS,120L FOR IDLER SPROCKETS.Now these are top of the line and worth the money but if my tank had arrived unbroken I would be buying a drive system only and modifying the running gear to R/C.Did you happen to ask HANS about the metal tracks he has,1-set for 532us I believe.Sax

yeah, I asked him. he just said they were expensive. never mentioned he had some..

At leats they are available....

Too bad about your sproket! Seems like a cheap enough part to supply you another one...

I recieved an e-mail from MARK1 and as far as my Tiger-I HE sells just about everything seperatly,I think your idea about the jagdpanther is the way to go,3-7 thousand dollars for a Tank is not ever going to happen without me being killed by my wife.

wonder what the price of just the hull is....even with just the hull and cheaper upper sections(or home made upper sections) price will still be about 3-4g's?

Now I am also considering the new not yet out product STUG III from RCArmory. It is 1/6 or 1/8 scale. Plastic hull. Some cast metal. BUT really nice metal tracks and metal and plastic fittings. Very nice suspension arms. Best part is price...i'm guessing under whole kit 2000$ not including drive motors and electronics.

I think this is much more reasonable and I like the PIII hull design....could also make a PIII upper section from scratch (or more likely, it will soon be produced by RCArmory if the Stug sells out...?..)
