Matorro Sturmtiger
Matorro Sturmtiger
Well I got bored waiting around for the new HL Panther and as I had a bit of cash in the slush fund I treated myself to the Sturmtiger. First impressions are it's a good overall model, engines and gear boxes a bit under powered so first in went a set of metal HL engines and gears. I also thought it would paint up a bit bland so thought I would add some zimmeritt and tools, made a start on that last night using miliput and was quiet pleased with the results so far.

P.S. Does any one know how or if the commanders hatch opened and if so is there any chance of a photo, I've looked everywhere for a photo. Cheers.

If you need any custom sturmtiger shells and crates see battlefront models they are relay good
Re: Matorro Sturmtiger
I didn't think there was a commanders hatch. What looks like the commanders hatch is just the commanders periscope.
Re: Matorro Sturmtiger
Thinking you could be right, I cant find a picture anywhere with the commanders hatch open. It does seem strange that a vehicle that big would not have a commanders hatch, even if for just assisting the driver with manouvres.Woz wrote: I didn't think there was a commanders hatch. Wish I could but the slush fund isn't that big, next month hopefully.mcevoyi wrote: LOOKING GOOD

Anyway got the front glasis plate done this evening and it's starting to look alright.

Thanks Ice,
It's the small round hatch I'm after, my reckoning is it must open other wise why have it there. If it's just for a commanders periscope surely they would have just have mounted a scope into the roof especially at this late stage in the war.

Re: Matorro Sturmtiger
It is just a periscope. It looks like a hatch because this periscope rotates.

Thanks Woz,
Never even thought of that, but now it's pointed out it makes sense, looks like I'll have to open up the loading hatch.
Got the last side zimmeritted this afternoon, whilst thats drying I'm going to make some tow cable brackets.

It's coming along really well! These are beasts of machines, and it looks like you'll do it justice.
How detailed do you plan on going with it?
