Brigadier General Charles (Chuck)Yeager died yesterday 07/12/2020,
He had a full career as a WW2 fighter pilot in the ETO (European Theatre of Operations) before becoming probably the most famous Test Pilot in history when flying Glamourous Glynis (His wifes Name)the Bell X1 rocket plane he became the first person to exceed the speed of sound while flying straight and level .
He tried to enlist in the Nasa Mercury astronaut programme but he was turned down as too old,
Ironically long out living Alan Shepard the First American in Space and John Glen the first of the Mercury Astronauts to orbit the Earth,
He was always my aviation hero alongside the late Eric (Winkle)Brown.
RIP Gentlemen.
Chuck Yeager.

I think I am about to upset someone

Re: Chuck Yeager.
I just read this, a true Aviator and lead a long, productive life.

Re: Chuck Yeager.
Sad day indeed, he went somewhere where no man had gone before, but many have followed.
Yes a true aviator, but his name will live on and his exploits never forgotten
We should always remember our hero's
