RC features you have added
RC features you have added
Will start this off, as this is an RC forum lets see you little extras you have given the tank that sets it apart for standard builds (lights don't count as they do not move). Tank crew member having a better look at a hit/target.

That is awesome! Is he set to automatically raise and lower when the gun in fired?
Re: RC features you have added
Hi Jimster Still trying to get my head around the TX16 , trying to program a delayed effect for the head rising out of the tank. A mix would have shot and head at the same time. I should send an email to Elmod asking if the reload time sound could be linked to the head activation, for now its manual .
The TX 16's a powerful tool but at the moment its a steep learning curve compared to the DX7s.

Re: RC features you have added
Very true words! I thought you had figured out some cool programming trick and I wanted to learn it

LOL, super cool
How about slowly popping his head up, but quickly dropping back down, similar to recoil timing. Could that be done?

Of course it can be done, cant be easier. And no need to even use the Elmod.Son of a gun-ner wrote:LOL, super cool![]()

I said it many times in the past, but here goes another, lol:
Of the 100ish parameters you have in the Elmod, you can do all of them, just with the radio. So that means not even a propper rc tank board is needed for a super cool and realistic tank. With a couple of speed controllers (3 eur each) and of course a sound board, you can do everything what the Elmod does, investing about 30 bucks free shipping, when you have a decent radio.
As many of you know I am the radio freak here, but my godness, that radiomaster can be found today for 90 euros free shipping thanks to the black friday. Just saying, lol.
And there are so many things more you can do just with the radio... Years ago I created some sort of virtual gears change, so that means you use the throttle stick just for throttle in one direction (top down is not moving, top up is full speed)
You have a three position switch:
When that switch is in the upper position, when you drive the tank it only goes forward.
When you have it in the top down the throttle moves the tank only backwards (with the speed limited in my case to a realistic 30% of the total)
When the switch is in the middle position, the tank does not move but it makes the rev up sound.
Even more, when you drive fowards, I created that virtual gear change, so I select the gears, like what we all do in any real vehicle. What do I achieve with that? Unbelievable and ultra realistic speed control. When most of the people use half stick movement for driving fowards I have the lenght of three entire stick movements from the lower position to the upper position.
And that can be done with just 2 3-eur speed controllers in the tank, with one in a wheeled vehicle.
I created videos showing that years ago.
Here I show it when using tamiya electronics:
Not my best videos, I want to make them again. And for some reason I was using ch2 as throttle there, something I never use, but hey.
Of course all the inertias, momentum and so what the elmod does, can be done just with the radio as well
An even better, if you already have the elmod, you can synchronize this system with what the elmod board does, so when I press the gear change buttons in the radio, the tank makes the gear change sound and slows in that very moment.
And that is only the tip of the iceberg of what you can do with a programmable radio.

Hi son of a gunner, could do the recoil effect but thats me loosing a servo port.
Rad that video is a waste of time for us on the forum, you always say that your radio is highly customised.
So how do we know what switches/functions are being used , on TX you have to activate the switches and pots.
I bet very few TX radios have the same layout for switches, pots etc, when you look on u-tube people say i like to move this switch/fuction to here.
Why don't you do all of us on RCTANKWARFARE a favour and do a u -tube video for a TX radio talking thro the functions and setting up the tank .

It is not a waste of time, the problem you have is you still don't understand how radios work. You can do exactly the same with any other radio that uses opentx or erskytx software (there are loads of those radios in the market, including your own Radiomaster, which has exactly same switches and pots than mine, except the 4 push buttons in the back, but you can use the unused trims in the front as push buttons as well, so it makes exactly the same switches in almost the same places.ronnie42 wrote:Hi son of a gunner, could do the recoil effect but thats me loosing a servo port.

But anyway, that is the greatness of the open software, I am not the one that has to tell you which switch use. It is you the one who picks the switch of your choice for your desired function.
What is good for me, might or might not be good for others. Yet again, open source, customizable programmable software. Just do it at your will, how you like it.
It is like expecting me to tell you how to config your elmod board and the channels used there. It must be you.
What you have to do is to watch tutorials and read the manuals of how to use open software and your radio and learn, and not to try to copy exactly what I do, because you might not want it the way I do it.
For example most guys seems to have throttle and steering in the same stick, many of them in the right one, because they are used to that because of their heng long. I have throttle in left stick vertical and steering in right stigh horizontal.
Said that, the mixes and the button that activates them are mostly showed in all my videos, but the problem, yet again, is you still don't understand how it works, so the videos are far away from being a waste of time. People writes me everyday even saying thanks for those videos.

Re: RC features you have added
Also I forgot to mention this part.ronnie42 wrote:Why don't you do all of us on RCTANKWARFARE a favour and do a u -tube video for a TX radio talking thro the functions and setting up the tank .
I already spend LOADS, really, LOADS of time every day helping people worldwide with their hobby problems, and even phisically fixing things for free. I also seem to be the sales manager and aftermarket support of many rc tank related electronics when I not only dont see a coin and not even get any discount when buying myself. Besides that, in this very forum I also opened a thread with programming tips. If it is not enough, I have my website where I honest review everything that I get and show how to do/use it. It is a very unbelievable unrewarding job where nobody (with the exception of an american friend from this forum) even offered to donate not even one penny.
So besides the reasons mentioned above, why should I be even considering to make all those videos setting the tank, when you said those videos are a waste of time? If I took the time of recording the videos, hanging them in youtube and linking here in the forum is with the only purpose of helping people.
But yeah, man, in fact in some way you are right, it is waste of time, but for me. I should focus in spending my time in my own things and forget about the rest.
Sorry, but I had to vent it.
