Glad to hear he made it back safe and sound Ice.
My oldest grandaughter's husband is there now and is a foot soldier. He has been there 5 months now,and I'm very concerned for him every day he is fighting there.

ICE and BIG - A big thanks to your relatives' service. Without them and others like them before, now and after, we'd all be in much worse shape. All of us should be so very proud of our service members - hat's off to you all.

A poem written by one of the "boys" on the front line in afghanistan (sourced from The Sun paper)
AFGHANISTAN -(with apoligies to kipling)
When your lying alone in your afghan bivvy
and your life depends on some MOD civvie
When the body armour's shared(one set between three)
and the firefights not like it is on TV
then youll look to your oppo, your gun and your God
as you follow that path all tommies have trod.
When the gimpy has jammed and your down to one round
and the faith that youd lost is suddenley found.
when the taliban horde is close up to the fort
and you pray that the Arty dont drop a round short
Stick to your sargeant like a good squaddie should
and fight them like satan or one of his brood
Your pay it won't cover your needs or your wants
So just stand there and take all the Talibans taunts
Nor generals Nor civvies can do aught to amend it
except make sure your kept in a place you cant spend it
Three fifty an hour in your afghani cage
not nearly as much as the minimum wage
your missus at home in a foul married quarter
with damp on the walls and a roof leaking water
Your kids miss their mate, their hero their dad
theyre missing the childhood they should have had
One day it will be different, one day by and by
as you stand there and watch, to see the pigs fly by
just like your forebears in mud dust and ditch
you'll march snd you'll fight and you'll drink and you'll bitch
whether froggy or zulu or jerry or boer
The brits will fight on'till battle is over
You may treat him like dirt, but nowt will unerve him
But i wonder, sometimes ,if the country deserves him

WOW! Now that does say it all...
I'll certainly be keeping this one in my stash of quotes, sayings and poems.
Thank you very much for sharing.

Re: proud day tomorrow
Wonderful poem. It puts alot of things into perspective.
"He knows every thing about nothing, and not so much about that, if you know somebody who knows what he knows, then you must know....someone quite thick!
