Large Scale- 1:1
Large Scale- 1:1
I grew up around model trains, and visiting steam railroads on family vacations. It was only natural that I pursued a railroading career. So I did, qualifying as a Locomotive Engineer on the Long Island Railroad in July,2000.Ive seen a lot - strange and not so strange. Gotta like what you do. It won’t seem like work.

I love Manhattan! Great pizza and whiskey.
I guess that switch (turnout) had something to do with that derailment?

Re: Large Scale- 1:1
Actually- it was a dopey block operator and stupid signal maintainers. It happened on single track territory, the operator tried to squeeze a Westbound 12 car train into an 11 car siding. The signal guys then shunted out the signal so an Eastward train had a favorable indication. No one noticed the westbound wasn’t in the clear and the eastbound sideswiped it, ending up in the ditch.
