tamiya aftermarket parts wanted and advice

Post by paulc »

HI all I am after some upgrade parts and advice for my pre owned Tamiya Panther and Jagdpanther that I have obtained.
I have been looking for drive shaft support bearings and have noticed the schumo sets, Unfortunately these are out of stock anywhere anyone know where I can get them ?.
Can you get metal tracks for above mentioned ?.
What's a good track tensioner set to get for these.
can you get hull braces for these.
Any other advice for me
many thanks in advance.

I would recommend against metal tracks, the gearboxes aren't really intended for use with them.

places for braces etc:
Henntec
Tankmodellbau
mk-modellbau

I should also add ETOArmor - they ship from the US tho, and Bob's policy is no hanky panky with the customs forms, so you should expect the VAT and import duty bill to be "reassuringly expensive" when it arrives...

Let’s not go down the road of Tamiya and their reputation for building bullet proof tanks that require no additional support again please gents. Once was enough
It’s your tank it’s what you make it

Because Tamiya's 1/35 and 1/16 Tanks are kits the build quality is very much in the hands of the builder,
What impresses me about Tamiya's Tanks is the research that has gone into them and the accuracy and the detail of the particular vehicle,
That I wager is where the money has gone in reckoning the price.
The electronics and parts of the gearboxes are long overdue an update but everything else is fine.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

The Tamiya tanks certainly look nice but if you don't rate the electronics then £800 - 1500 for a 1/16 static model is rather pricey.

In the 1/10 RC race car market Tamiya is at the cheaper end of the market so they are able to be competitive. The problem was that in the RC tank market there was no competition until HL came along and, at that time, HL didn't pose a threat. Too late now?

More like 400-800.

You should know better than to turn this into a Tamiya vs the rest thread ;)
