Whats the state of play with the Taigen or Hl tiger1. Have they fixed any of the issues or better just going for a Tamiya. Redoing the turret base and the hull turret opening is putting me off. Cant be bothered doing it if it needs fixed, i could use the nice Leopard unit . Problem its also a nightmare to get right especially the height in the hull and fitting to the turret as i found out doing the Kingtiger.
Turret mod ,too much work involved to finish.

I think that the Taigen and Heng Long Body modification enabling the Turret to be correctly positioned is rather like the engine deck of Taigen and Heng Longs Panzer 4 which should be but isn't sloping,
Both of these shortcomings really should be addressed but it involves more faffing around than most of us are prepared to do,
Having seen so many Tiger 1s ostensibly finished yet still bearing the easily fixed excess spare aerial holder and the incorrectly fitted Cupola (Now fixed on Heng Longs latest Tiger 1) it is unlikely in the extreme that reengineering the Tank is going to happen anytime soon in the majority of homes wherein can be found a very happy child (Aged 5 to 75)delighted with what came out of the box on 25 December.
Whereas giving a Child a Large box containing a multi-piece kit of a Tamiya Tiger 1 on Christmas Day is more likely to produce tears of frustration than cries of delight and anger in the parent watching myriad parts being lost and or being trampled into the parquet flooring as they contemplate the £700 + they just paid for the thing.
You should never lose sight of the difference between the market niche that the Taigen and Heng Long products are aimed at and Tamiya's ostensibly similar product that is directed at a completely different market.

Yes, HL have corrected the cupola orientation on the v6 Tiger 1 but l should add that when it was wrong it really was the most simple fix for even a low skilled modeller to split the glue holding the cupola in place, twist it and re glue it (somewhat easier than.building a Tamiya kit!).

If it were all perfect out of the box, what would we do with our hobby time? At under £100 for the HL new Tiger 1 it really is a no brainer unless you want to pay for and build the Tamiya.

Perhaps you could try using the Tamiya Tiger 1 hull deck. That way, you'll have things in the right place. It shouldn't be too hard to adapt the Taigen/HL upper to accept the Tamiya deck- which is, after all, it's just a flat bendy sheet. Use it as a template; cut its shape out of the Taigen upper deck, and then bond it in. It's only around 30 Euros + postage- though currently unavalable at Axel's

Hi 43rd Was looking for a quick build between the interesting ones , no chopping up hulls or turrets. Done the tiger way back , a lot of the Tamiya spares are out of stock. Have one rule never order anything if its not in stock, sometimes its a good move . Never painted the underside of the tiger to remind me of the Taigen /HL pitfalls :O
