Li.ion to nmh
Wish to switch from a 7.4 1000 mah li-ion to a 7.2 1000 to1500 nmh battery in my 2.4 ghz Heng long panzer3.
How difficult is it to do this? And is it even possible .

The power outputs are compatible so all you need to do is find a NiMH pack that fits in the hull, changing the plug if necessary. If space is tight, you can always string together 6 sub-c cells, just wire them in serial.
If you use sub-c cells you can go beyond 5000mah if you want. It may be cheaper to buy a pack of sub-c cells and split them if you need to.

The problem is the size of the Ni-Mh battery compared to the much smaller Li-Ion,
It is not a problem in Tigers /Challengers etc but PZ111/PZ4 are very restricted for space in the hull.
Why do you want to change to a Ni-Mh battery?
The Li-Ion is a good and safe battery without the worries attributed to Li-Pos and they save a lot of valuable space.

That's true. Cell mah capacity may be an issue but the bigger ones are out there. The NiHM cells that became popular with electric fags may help, 3.7v each you'll need just 2 and they are just a little bigger than an AA cell. Wire 4 together to get 7.4v with double the mah (2 pairs of serial, connected in parallel). Spend the evening pawing through e-bay for possibilities - what could be more exciting?

Funny you should say about the battery size. I bought three Heng Long dual sound Shermans from forgebear a while back, all with the Li-Ion batteries, but they all came with the batteries in a long black case, which is the same size as a standard 7.2 volt NiCd/Ni-Mh battery. Main reason is I just purchased the MX2 charger from Imex and wished to eliminate the original charger & European wall adapter that came with the P3. Nothing really wrong with them other than the idea of multiple different chargers in the drawers and the idea of the battery’s being all the same and Switchable is preferable.

Want to switch the battery in my Heng Long Panzer III from a li-ion 7.4 over to a nimh 7.2.
can I simply change the existing cable in the battery compartment of panzer 3 to a Tamiya 7.2 connector set.?
Then fine a nimh battery that will fit the compartment?
Main reason to use a one better charger for both my P3 and my new Taigen Tiger 1 and eliminate the junk charger that came with the HL tank.

Hmmmm,just seen where I’ve already posted on this subject,was looking at a ad for some super strength catnip called cat crack’ must have got a good whiff of the stuff or something!,

And nobody should use the tamiya conector, thats junk. You can use XT60 or T Deans instead.
