Torro, Taigen

Post by NickyB65 »

Hi,

I've been looking at Torro tanks at Torro.de, are these the same as Taigen tanks and vice versa? Is Torro just a dealer
for Taigen?

Reading the forum, Taigen seem to be one of the better tanks.

Thanks

Nick

Not sure but they look the same. Could be two companies using by the same moulds...

Started as a tank man.
2x early Tiger 1's made from parts of HL, Taigen, Mato and whatever I saw suitable.

Yes, Torro and taigen are the same tanks, they just have a different name on The Box. If you want the best, look for the box that says imex.

Kind of hard to do that when you are in the UK and imex are the US distributor :haha:

Taigen are the manufacturer, Torro is the EU distributor (or is trying to be) and imex is the US distributor. Both Torro and imex have their own little tweaks (higher spec or nicer packaging) but the basic product is the same.

T6, my friend, the relationship between Torro, Taigen and Imex is convoluted to say the least. I've been trying for years to figure it out and it still makes my head hurt. Actually, Forgebear might have some tanks with Imex on the box. The Sherman is a "U.S. controlled tank" so it should say Imex on the box. And the boxes are a story in themselves. I guess our Chinese brethren don't like to waste anything, so if the boxes are wrong they'll correct them, but they'll use up all the boxes that are wrong first. That leads to typos, like how on the new P4 it says "dual machine gun". Not. Typo. But, even if Imex offers to pay for the new boxes they still use the old ones til they're gone. And Taigen and Torro are made in the same factory, kinda like the mazda rx7 and the ford probe used to run on the same line. There's a dee-troit reference for ya. @) @)

I will say this: I live in the USA and I’ve given Imex plenty of business, however, about 80% of my money spent on my rc tank addiction has gone overseas to England, Poland, Germany, Norway, Australia and China. Sometimes you gotta go to where the stuff is. I’m willing to pay shipping for particular items that I want bad enough. I’ve chosen to model a tank that is seldom modeled so I pay more to achieve my personal goal. If you’re happy with a certain tank that is offered by a vendor located in a country other than your own, pay up and be happy. Life is short.

I was mearly trying to explain the basic differences, not the mindblowing detail of how a Chevy here is a Daewoo there, or a Buick over in China, but was an Opel/Vauxhall once upon a time :P
