For any interested parties out there, Kampfgruppe Kernow will be doing it`s bit for the "OVERLORD 65" celebrations planned for this year at the St. Buryan Rally, St. Buryan, (Nr Penzance), down `ere in the land of pasties and clotted cream, where no salad based produce dare show it`s rabbit loving face! :-[ (unless it comes with a kebab, then it`s just about "proper job"! - thats "socially acceptable/of a high standard" to any non-Cornish speakers amongst you!).
This will be a two day event, held on the 25/26th July, with Kampfgruppe Kernow taking centre stage in the model/crafts tent, and will consist of the following set up:
8ft x 6ft floor display featuring (scratchbuilt as all my 1/16th buildings etc. are!) an "Alantic Wall" style defensive bunker/pillbox complex complete with "Rommels Asparagus" AT traps & supporting infantry unit.
Medium to heavy armour, German: Stug III Ausf G ("Helga"), Panther Ausf G ("Kurt"), & PzKpfw VI Tiger II Ausf B.
Medium armour, Allied: M4A3 Sherman 105mm M4 Howitzer ("Big John").
Commemorative (produced by yours truely!) "OVERLORD 65" booklets for the punters to take away.
Suitable period background music (the tanks & even me sometimes need a break!
.A portrayal (again by yours truely!) of a Master Sergeant of the 35th Infantry Division, US Army, Normandy, June 1944. (Any fans of "Kellys Heroes" - the best war movie ever - Woof Woof!, will know that this was Clint Eastwoods unit also!).
