Marco, i spent some time looking around the interweb. Could not find what i wanted.
Dean, ya, the M4 and not the m4a1. Maybe Blindes Canadiens is my answer?

Well, this is a very good question! As we know the boys in Italy inherited the 8th army's worn out crap so if there were early Shermans that would be the first place I would look. I'm pretty sure they were only issues standard 75's and Firefly's for Europe. Hmmm... let the hunt begin!

Apparently after wearing out the worn out 8th army hand me downs, the 5th Canadian (Armoured) Division was issued with M4 Shermans including fireflies.
