Tank Of The Month rules.

Post by Son of a gun-ner »

In case anyone that's interested hasn't noticed yet.

To help members find them, I have published the rules of the TOTM as a sticky.

It is how I've interpreted them from the rules and rule changes of my previous TOTM managers.

I would value any comments anyone may want to make, good or bad.

Mick.

Hi Mick !

Your rules look quite efficient and easy to follow. Now i will digress if I may......

This is merely observation and my honest opinion.

As one of the previous TOTM managers I often wondered why there is so little interest in this particular piece of our forum. Its the one part that not only begs for participation but allows each of us a chance to show off our hard work to people with similar interests.

It even allows us to voice ourselves and cast a vote.

One of the reasons I put the decision to combine pictures and videos to a vote was to see how many members were going to chime in.

I know we all lead busy lives, but I'm sure everyone who stops in to visit the forum as a member or guest should be encouraged to see the works of art that are displayed and take a few seconds to vote.

The floor is yours now

Carl

Thank you Carl, well said :thumbup:

As you know, I agreed with the decision to combine the two formats, purely because we mainly only had two entries in the video submission threads, and to make the competition simpler.

Regards.

Sometimes I wondered with the level of skill this forum possesses would it be easier ( probobly harder at first)to break it down in a points basis like so: Please just remember I'm just throwing ideas out.

Paint- scale 1-10
Originality- scale 1-10
Electronics ( sound, options,complexity) scale- 1-10

The tank with the most points for that month wins, but those points are carried forward for the year in a spreadsheet and there's a grand total first second and third place finish at the end of the year. To keep everyone involved.

I'm sure the fella scoring would pull the remaining hairs out of the head....

So for instance a panther tank with Elmod and amazing paint skills gets:

Paint=10
Originality=6
Electronics=9

Total for January Total=25

If there's a tie no worries, the same entrants can submit different peices for Feb. And so on....

Remember folks I'm thinking out loud to start a discussion

:think: :think: :think: I wonder. . . . .

For that, you'd probably need a panel of judges :think:

In a way, I think that when people vote, they make a mental note of these things then vote for the one that gives the highest overall points in their mind, that's how I sort of vote.

I'm swayed by marketing, some of the best selling games have the simpler rules, simpler is usually a winner.

To be honest, I ran the idea of groups in my mind, but felt we don't get enough entries for that, plus I feel that grading is something that the general populace isn't keen on, plus it's a matter of opinion whether one model is higher grade than another, may cause alienation.

But thanks for your ideas Carl :thumbup:

Oh, I think my brain just turned on :{

Carl, am I guessing that you mean instead of a poll, people post with their three sets of numbers for each entry?

You weren't a member then and couldn't see TOTM in operation :P

Yes I no mick but I had followed the forum for sometime.so as I will vote in due course.ithought I have my say.
Yes, now you're a forum member, you certainly can have your say :thumbup:

And thank you, I think simple is best. And as for the 2nd chance, that's purely an extra separate voting poll added just for Christmas.

Simple and easy is the best solution. But throwing some ideas around may spark some interesting ideas and get more attention from the forum... :think:
