Panzer interior color

Can anyone enlighten me on the interior paint color of the average panzer? I heard most Tanks are white on the inside cuz their basically a black hole all closed up,white woul make sense. I just want to paint the insides of the hatch’s cuz they will be open at times thinking of a dirty white as their constantly be used.

The correct color is called 'Elvenbein', it's a yellowish white.

Insides of hatches were sometimes painted in the main vehicle color simply to keep it's camouflage when they are open.

Initially the interior was painted in Red Oxide (The same as the External undercoat) or black
Then it was changed to Red oxide on the bottom quarter, The rest of the interior was creamy white (Elfenbein),
The change was because the crews complained it was so dark inside that they could not see,
The final change was to paint the inside of all hatches the same colour as the primary external colour of the tank so that when the hatch was open it would not show up against the tanks camouflage .

Elvenbein interior colour , what mix of paint do people use? Looking for a tamiya acrylic mix, some say use cream but not a fan of enamel paint.

Hi, I cannot find a Tamiya Acrylic Cream, Perhaps someone else knows of it,
The closest to Elfenbein that I know of is---
"HUMBROL Acrylic OFF WHITE Number 41"
This comes in a 14Ml pot,£1.11+post.
