WSN Tiger 1 from Torro

Post by Rob59 »

Yesterday I took both Tigers out into the field to ride around with my eldest 12 year old grandson.
I drove my Taigen and the kid fooled around with the WSN Tiger.
It was a bit disappointed to see, how slow the WSN Tiger moved around.
We changed all the AA batteries for new ones, still no effect. It hardly could crawl forward.
My grandson was a bit disappointed too, which I saw on his face.
So I let him drive my Taigen till the battery was empty and he had the time of his life.
I do not know if any of you guys are familiar with these WSN ones, but Torro offers a NIMH battery pack with loader for them.
What I would like to know is, if such an investment does improve the ride-ability of this plastic tank?
The NIMH pack is 9,6V, my Taigen runs on a 7,2V pack. So I would assume it would be plenty of power to move that damn thing around, right?
I must admit, I am new to this hobby and have no clue about the electric ins and outs.
So fellow Tankers, help me out please:
Is it worth buying a 9,6V battery pack to improve the ride-ability?
I would make the kid very happy......and no, I do not have the intention yet, buying him a better model.....
Here are 2 pics from yesterday's field offensive

I always, stick to the recommended Voltage. If you put 9.6 volts in you may damage your electronics. :O

But those WSN tanks are supposed to run on 9.6V

This morning I contacted Torro in Germany. They told me, adding a 9.6V battery pack does not improve the speed compared to the 8xAA ones it runs on now.
They also asked me if it is a 2.7Mhz or a 2.4Ghz tank?
The guy I bought it from said the box the tank was in, said 2.4Ghz.
But I cannot confirm that, nore the tank nore the controller says anything about it

Show us your controllers. ;-)

Also, do you have large sweeping antenna's on the tanks? Do they run well together and over longer distances away from you? Is it a recent series productions tank? Than it is probably 2.4 GHz. ;-)
1:16 was my scale. Until 'Konan' came into my life... an Armortek 1:6 Tiger 1!
... Now followed by a Panther G, 'Gunther'!

I'm a happy man. 8)

Same with a Torro/WSN I bought for my best friend as a starter-tank. Turned out the motors were not alright. :-/
Those are near-impossible to replace.
(I happened to have a Hobby Boss I bought as a static but it did contain two motors they fitted in the Torro/WSN! So that one is driving again!)

No antennes Marco.
My Taigen is 2.4Ghz and in my back yard it will run almost 45-50 minutes with a fully loaded battery. Yard has no grass or sand. Stones all over the place.
So not much resistance for the tracks which probably explains the log running time.
The cheap one just runs bad, whether my Taigen is nearby or not.
Both tanks run with the stock controllers.
