Heng Long Jagdpanther

Post by Gigantohawk »

Hello good people,

My friend and work collegue Andy brought his new H/L Jagdpanther in to work today. It's an impressive piece of kit (finished in Desert Yellow !! did they ever see desert ?)and with a bit of modelling skill could be made to look a stunner.
The speed of the tank is much more scale-like (slower) than say one of my Stug's or PZIII for that matter. The road springs, however are far too soft. Having said that, drilling new spring attachment holes should quickly cure this.
I have to say that this tank will surely appear on my "must buy" list but certainly not before the Mato Sherman.
Whilst I'm the subject of the Mato Sherman could somebody please give me an update as to when we can expect it's release. This is the one I'm really waiting for and the suspense is crippling !!!!.

Best regards,

Nick.

I'm afraid the mato sherman is still vapourware at the moment - the Blitz was supposed to be getting bulk pricing info in early June, but that seems to have slipped again. You might be better off getting the JagdPanther and doing that up while you wait, as I can pretty much guarranty there will be an unseemly scramble to buy the first shipment or 2...  And heaven help the staff if Walmart ever decided to stock them :o :o ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hi Mart,
Yeah, you're probably right about the Jag. But you know how life goes, as soon as I buy a Jag they'll release the Sherman.
Perhaps I ought to order a Jag now and then we'll have the Sherman on Monday !!!

All the best,

Nick.

Hi Nick The Jagdpanther was faster than the Stug ,if it has standard gearboxes with white cap motors the speed should be spot on scale have checked it with swathdivers gearbox/motor chart. I am fitting 8 Tooth pinion to my Panzer 3&4 and the Stug to slow them and make them more scale speed ,watch the arm mounting spigot they split like the Tiger ones .I am like you waiting for the sherman last time I checked they were due end of July, dont know if this is still the case.
as for the Jagdpanther they never made it to the desert as far as I know.Dosnt matter what colour it is when you get it its going to be painted .

Ok Pete mate. I'm with you with most of this. However I meant realtime 1/16th scale model speeds. The Stug's set of like a hamster on whizz...far too fast for scale. The Jag is definitely slower, I'm wondering if Andy charged the battery's up properly.
I know that you have checked out Swathy's chart. But seriously straight out of the box it seems well sorted scale speed wise. That concur's with your analysis.
As I said, well sorted so far. lot's of modelling potential...very impressive actually. It might be another one for you to check out mate.
Let me know how you get on with the 8 tooth pinions on your PZ's. I probably need to do something like this on mine.

Best regards mate,

Nick.

Hi Nick its the size of the sprocket on the panzer 3&4 that makes it so fast have fitted an 8 tooth pinion in the panzer4 and its much better to drive ,Swathdivers chart when you load all the figures in ,itworks out about right ,the Jagdpanther is about the only tank you dont need to alter ,apart from the usual things to do but the motors and gears are spot on .
