Hello guys, got my first tank, torro kv-2.
Goes very nice in indoors but when I finally test it outside last weekend it really struggles to climb any obstacles or turn on lawn/sand. Usually just refuses to move if there is any dirt in the tracks so its nearly impossible to drive it outside, or just go straight ahead full speed..
Is there somekind of protection in this receiver part which also drives the motors that cut off the power from motors when stalling? I have been using using 7.2v NIMH pack and 2S Lipo with no difference.
I have couple tracked construcktion vehicles and they have no problems turning around in place or break a track link so I am not happy with torros performance.

Good morning,
You'll want to open the tank up and see what kind of motors\gearbox came with it. Those Taigen\Torro KV-2s are heavy weight machines right out of the box and that is before the owner goes detail crazy on them ( Hey! nothing to see here, move along, move along) The gearboxes should be the black steel type, not the sintered metal ones that sometimes come stock and some 390 motors should be installed if the tank came with 380s in the gearbox. I recommend a 5000MaH battery and that is just from experience running mine outside in the lot. Your tank can be one of your best running vehicles. The tracks and suspension are wide and stable and chew up scenery if the rest of the drive train is there to support them.
regards,
Painless

Re: torro kv struggles to turn / climb outdoors
Seems a bit odd? I have a heavy KV1 all metal lower hull, and that breezes along, turns etc, no problems. It has steel gearboxes, but I don't think that they are low ratio or anything, but the motors may be better than standard.
I would take the upper hull off, and check for good solder joints on the motors, and that everything is plugged in properly. It might be worth checking that the tracks aren't too tight, KV1's are supposed to run with slack tracks.

the gear box and motors looks like this: https://www.torro-shop.de/3in1-Metal-Ge ... -KV-1-KV-2
what does this 3in1 gearbox mean? there is also 5in1 gearbox for kv, or this all black...
I also forgot to mention that I have turned volume down on the tank but when trying to turn or climb on rough terrain without success the tank make quite loud buzzing like sound like a warning? If I continue pushing the stick forward the tank will shutdown and I need to manually restart tank and transmitter.
Tracks are slack and the tank runs very good and fast in flat hard surface.

Those gearboxes are what are called 'white metal'. The upgraded ones have black steel gears, run a lot smoother and quieter, and can have a lower gear ratio which helps to deliver more torque, but a lower top speed. 3:1 is 'standard, 5:1 is low geared.
Have you fully charged the battery? On a standard battery the tank will only run for around 20 minutes. After 10 minutes the power will drop off, and by 15 minutes it will be very low. If the tank runs ok when fully charged, but struggles after 15 minutes, then it is just the battery draining. If you want a longer run time you will need a higher 'MAh' rated battery. Batteries rated at 3700mah or higher will run for 2x the run time of the standard one.
All batteries are 7.2v, but the mah rating determines how long the battery will supply 7.2v. They are 8.4v when fully charged, and the boards will cut off at 6v. The batteries supplied as standard are not high quality, so the power that they supply does not last very long.
