Rad I will revisit the hull alignment. I've since redid the latching system and magnets.

After a nice Easter Sunday I have made it to my favorite spot, my workshop.

Here's the gun deck and mount I made out with styrene material, a panzer iv turret base I modified and a metal turret rotation ring.

Much more to do.

Thanks my friend. So here's the 6 million dollar question....

I know this tank is purely fictional so I do have a wee bit of leeway in the build. Now that this monster is resting on top of a panzer III chassis I assume the traverse should be limited or even not functional at all as I would guess that the mighty 88 would just flip it over if it traversed more than 30 degrees in either direction?

Funnily enough I was watching a documentary this evening, mainly about Tiger tanks, but there was a shot of an 88 firing still on its wheels. When it fired, there was a real kick. It almost seemed that the recoil lifted the front off the ground. I think you are correct in your assumption, to fire at right angles to the chassis there would be a good chance of it flipping it over. Having said that, you do have a muzzle break which would reduce the recoil, but I don't think I would want to be on board.

That's what I thought Richard. Since the turret ring is in place, I will figure in a very limited traverse setup. Once the gun is tested and dialed in I may decide to design a servo operated traverse or the mini motor setup that Alwyn designed for our Nashorns. This is the fun part!

My idea with the gun is a completely different camoflouge pattern with a dunkelgelb base and green octopus pattern rings

I thought of you when I decided on the pattern. Luckily it is just a gun and shields or my fingers and mind may have left me OK well my mind has been lost some time ago....
