I was just reading some of the posts here and found mention of the volume switch I hid in the exhaust stack on my Tiger so I thought I'd post the pics and share what I did. The volume switch board fit into the exhaust like it was made to go in there after you sand down the excess on the sides. I used a Dremel tool to sand down a replacement switch [thanks again Brel!] after breaking the one that came with the tank when I tried to cut it. I had to sand down a bit to where the screw goes to attach the exhaust to the back plate to allow room for the wiring, but there is still enough left for the screw to grab. I then cut the small rods that attach the top plate, sand them down just a bit to allow for movement of the plate to adjust the volume. The white cap on the switch pulls off. To get it to fit you have to trim the bottom off of the knob or the post on the knob isn't long enough to fit back in the board, and then it fits in the hole that is already in the muffler. A drop of gel CA holds the top plate on top of the relocated switch and a quick shot of paint to make it blend. Now the volume can be adjusted without turning the tank over and the switch is completly hidden.
Thank you for the kind words in the other post!

Re: Hidden Volume Switch
nice to see you on here Ern, this is a great mod to do if you have not got the metal lower hull. glad to be of help with the spare switch that I had,
Re: Hidden Volume Switch
Thanks Brel - I have the Asiatam hull ordered for my 2nd Tiger and will be doing a complete late conversion when it gets here. Why won't this work with it - isn't the back plate the same?
Re: Hidden Volume Switch
the back plate is exactly the same as the hl back plate and are interchangeable, what i meant was that it is a great mod for the HL hull because you don't have to flip the tank to adjust the volume, also the quick release on the Asiatam hull means that you do not have to do this mod at all if you don't want to, all you have to do to adjust the sound is flip open the upper hull and you can adjust the sound that way
Re: Hidden Volume Switch
Good point Brel - I'll have to see how "quick" the quick release is. Do you have the metal hull on yours? It looks awesome. I ordered it from RC Command with some other stuff on 5/31 but it's still not here

Re: Hidden Volume Switch
Hi Erm , Me again
I have the Asiatam hull and its well worth the money . I bought my one secondhand of here but in un used condition . The only thing with it, which was explained to me before I bought it so I have no probs with it . That the mounting points for the internals had been removed . But this was not a problem as I had converted my HL Tiger 1 bottom to be waterproof by seeling it all up . I had mounted all my electronics onto a home made board including the volume switch . I then removed the HL / Asiatam plastic exhausts and made my own . So now they smoke out the top not the sides . I did make lifting cover caps but it was an issue to lift them and I found out late war Tiger 1s didnt all have them . So I removed them .
