I have just bought a Tamiya Sherman 1970's tank, it has all shell, wheels metal tracks, gearboxes and motors, what do i now need to get her up and running and how much, if you have any parts let me know as i wanna see her running again????
I already have a 4 channel controller ready so what else.
Cheers Mark.
What do i need and how much?

Re: What do i need and how much?
and then there is the just installing speed controllers so no need for any of the above, I take it this is the clutch version if so you will need a servo for the clutches and a single speed controller for the motor this will make the tank move and turn if you want the turret to turn the you can use a modified servo to give 360 rotation and another servo for gun elevation all this will make the tank move with turret rotation but it wont have sound to gt sound is going to be more difficult as your clutch set up takes a lot of room and it may be essayer to remove the clutch and gearbox replace with new motors and the internals from another tank, depends on what you want to spend it may be essayer and cheeper to buy a new full option Sherman

Hi The cheapest way is to fit full heng long internals From a S&S tank inculding gearboxes and motors ,you will have to file an extra flat on the gearbox shaft to allow you to fit the Tamiya sprocket ,then if you want to go I.R.battling fit either a darkith system or the new one from rccommaned.use the elevation and recoil units from the stug they do fit but a little cramped for space .see this post for fitting http://www.rctankwarfare.com/Forums/index.php/topic,1484.0.html
Ive just done this and converted it to a firefly But used Tamiya gearboxes .
regards pete

hiya
Ive just finished my 70's tamiya Sherman. Slowest damn thing ive ever owned. Why put a 100 to 1 reduction gear on a model tank?
Anyway ill take some pictures tonight and post em up so you can see what to do if you have the old clutch system

Hi Chaps,
Thanks for the options youve said, now i may just do it as a Show tank strapped to my army Lowloader then as it sounds costly and alot of hassle to fit other internals.
And yes it was the one on Fleabay 3 weeks ago.
Regards Mark.
