What weapon to lay on top of my Panther? (now with a photo)

I want to lay a weapon on the turret of my Panther... Should I put on top an MG42, StG-44, Mauser 98K, Schmeisser MP40 or a Luger P08?

EDIT:
Well, so many people opted for the MP40, I actually tried.

A MP40 would make sense, as its a perfect PDW ;)

Arnie's right, the MP40 Schmeisser was issued to most tank crews as a PDW. In addition, many crewmen also carried the Walther P38 as a standard sidearm. Because of WW2 stereotypes in movies, many would assume it was the Luger, but it wasn't. I've been lucky to have fired them both, by the way, and think the P38 is way way better than the over engineered luger... What's more in a dressed up format, it was used as the standard sidearm of the Men from 'Uncle' (David McCallum, and the late Robert Vaughn...) :D

You guys sure an MP40 is not gonna be too big?

Only thing smaller on your list, would be the Luger, or a P38 as 43rd sugested ;)

:D :D
With a bit of photoshopping, the Lightning would have looked quite interesting with a Panther undercarriage  ....must work on that one
Here I am doing a risky semi selfie with my son's Walther P38. Gun nuts here will appreciate the workmanship of the gun (as I do), but after yesterday's school insanity..it's has to be time to find solutions to the US problem with personal weaponry. Switzerland has more guns per capita than the US, and virtually NO deaths by firearm. I believe that's also true of Canada..

I did a spot on WW2 tanker handguns a little while back. This pic was posted in 2015, and shows: (L-R) German Panzer Walther P38 (The one I had on the range); British Tanker Enfield No 2 Mk 1 revolver, although the Tank version often had the cocking lever part of the hammer filed off, to prevent it catching on anything in the turret 8O : Luger P08 (This a swiss made one. Very accurate but tricky to field strip). Was once the standard Wehrmacht sidearm but replaced by P38 and PPK.
Bottom L-R: Colt 1911 (Chinese made model), carried by US tank crews. Tokarev TT-33 pistol, used by Russian tankers. There you have the lot, pretty much. Some US tanks also carried the Tommy Gun as a SDW..
These all work, and I've fired them all (they belong to my son in Switzerland). Hope you don't mind me broadening your thread just a bit.
Your Panther should have scale versions of the P38 (sometimes a PPK), and the MP40. Lugers were fiddly and difficult to strip if they jammed, so I'm sure Panzers were happier with the P38. I've seen near-scale versions of these.
The Beautiful SG 44 (first true assault rifle..and inspiration for the AK47) was not used by tank crews. It was an infantry weapon. So was the K98.

Any more requests? ;D

Thanks RobW for the humor, and Son of a gun-ner, of course that's what I always do! And now you know why I posted this in 'off-topic'. :-P

I once built a PzIV and yes, I chose to place a 1/16 size MP40 on top, looked great.
