I am always playing with the idea of building a RC plane... But then I look to videos like yours and I discard the idea.

I think most guys in this forum dont have an idea of the amount of hours and skills are needed for scratchbuilding a warbird and make it able to fly propperly... And quite a lot of those planes do not survive the first flight... And after the crash there is almost nothing left.

It has to be a frustrating hobby, but fully rewarding if you are able to stay in the air.

I'd stick in the ground. Lol

Tell me about it Rad,
One of the first large scale R/C aircraft I built in 1/8 scale was a FW 190 Butcherbird,
It pretty much overlapped the workbench as it sat there on it spindly undercarriage,
I put it on the floor of the workshop to make sure everything worked,
I made the classic mistake of NOT checking the throttle setting,
Yes it ran straight into my leg,
It broke the Prop and I had to go to A & E for 7 stitches. I still have it and it fly's well (With its new Prop )

Wow. Take some photos of that FW 190!!!

I am building a 1:16 scale P40, it will be RC, but it wont fly on purpose. I am building it intentionally strong and heavy, and with plenty of gadjets like working machine guns, sounds and so on.

It is in very early stage of building, but Ill share once its ready.

A few years back I fancied the idea of building and flying an R/C helicopter so I went along to the local flying field where a club flew. I started talking to some of the men there and was impressed by the display being performed by one obviously very experienced flyer ....,, until it all went wrong & he totally wrecked his helicopter. The guy I was. standing next to said "there goes £750".,.,,, I went home & forgot about the idea

H...I wonder what happens when one of our pond and seafaring members builds a large (and expensive) model of HMS Hood? Is it supposed to sink every time it's launched? While it may turn your legs to jelly seeing your
large scale Dornier shattering in a shower of foam, imagine what it's like to wade in after your hapless Battlecruiser, especially when the RX stops working...
Then again..what about submarines? Where's the fun in seeing a periscope cutting a small bow wave through the local pond, or paddling pool ? Still, with an FPV fitted, it would we great for all the guys who are now afraid to espy the fairer sex, in this increasingly oversensitive world...

H.M.S. Hood was in service for a few days over 21 years before she was sunk, so I guess that means the model would be safe, unless, of course she came across a large model of the Bismark.

Probably a common story. I spend a whole winter (1994) building a FW190, a true kit and not one of those EZ kit. Built it into a real beauty with retracts and powerful engine. Then I realized I do not know how to fly so I buy a small ARF trainer to learn. Brought both planes to my father's farm. On the first try to see if I can get the ARF trainer up the ground, I almost cut a finger starting the engine, these propeller are really dangerous and the engine extremely noizy. The field was a bit bumpy so the trainer goes up 5 feet after a bump and then goes nose down and breaks a propeller. Change propeller, same thing happened. Then I realized I had no fun at all trying to fly planes. The fun is to build them. I never got to risk putting the FW in the air. Both planes went into the barn and are still there to this day.
